Anyone going that route is not going to survive. If you can stockpile a years supply of food , normal dehydrated/canned food , that is ideal, because if you don’t become sustainable, producing your own food, you won’t make it long term anyways.
You need to focus on superfoods that you can grow , harvest, and preserve.

Buying buckets of survival shit food from Costco might make you feel good but you will still die in the end. Probably from that food lol

Not necessarily

It will become harder and harder to acquire goods without taking the mark. We also have a grand solar minimum to deal with, interruptions in shipping and manufacturing will become the norm as violence escalates across this country in the next few years

My recommendation was to have a years supply, that will get you through most troubles. But to buy something with a 25 year shelf life is not the answer. You know that

Add lentils to that mix, way quicker to cook than beans, no soaking required, taste is good, very flexible, 18 grams of protein per cup without meat, so way higher with meat.

Whatever you get, put in food grade buckets or Mylar bags. If you don’t, it will bring mice and rats. There are also packets you can place in the dry goods that remove the oxygen from the air in the packaging which is what prolongs the life of the food.

Growing enough food to survive is not really a given. It sounds good, but having good weather, good soil, manure, and good water in a catastrophic after time is not likely. We do not know what we will face. Wandering gangs of homeless will be looking for food. We may have acid rain, we might find ourselves in a nuclear winter scenario. Preserving that food is tricky. Your garden would have to be huge to feed you and you will need lots of dependable water.

A corn stalk might produce three ears of corn. You will eat them as soon as you can...that is a lot of time, water and luck you might not have. Then you will need to save the seed as well, dry it and protect it thru a very hungry winter.

It is NOT STUPID buying groceries for the long term and the short term. They might not suit your tastes or delicacies but in a survival situation they will keep you alive until you can get back on some stable ground...hopefully.

Costco has a good selection of canned meats like beef, chicken, salmon, pork, Turkey, clams, tuna and my favorite cleaned sardines that don't taste like sardines, packed in virgin olive oil.

One can of beef or chicken can be added to nice soup where dried veggies of all kinds can give adequate nutrition. Buy the buckets of beef or chicken base at a restaurant supply grocer as it will provide rich flavor, salts, and it will last a very long time. They have smaller sealed containers that are good for years.

The beans, white rice, barley, etc. Even dry pastas (organic ) do cause OVEREATERS and food abusers to get diabetes. But in a time where meals are smaller and McBurgers are unavailable and we walk more and work more we will not develop diabetes.

The benefits of molasses, peanut butter with no HFCS, real honey, virgin olive oils, coconut oil, and dried fruits...all available at Costco...will make surviving healthier. Their Ramen and Cup o Noodles are not ideal but they are a sound comfort food using minimal water in an emergency.

One last remark...you cannot afford it.

Skip the car payment, use credit, sell your boat, 4 wheeler, one of your guns, your jewelry, that used car in the driveway, anything you really do not need and perhaps be useless in a catastrophic after-time...AND BUY SUPPLIES NOW.

Whatever food you store long term for survival, you'd best prepare and eat occasionally during normal times, or you won't know what to do with it when an emergency hits.

Got enough drinkable water stored? Prob not.

Whenever I hear "rice and beans" I always think, "But what if the water is contaminated and you can't cook them? Or there's no heat source?" Rice and beans are cheap but they have drawbacks. Canned food, peanut butter, honey, are more practical. What are you going to do with 20 lb. of flour and 10 lb. of sugar, also?
