Re: Best Costco Survival Food
I see where Costco can't keep Mac 'n'Cheese on the shelves.

why Costco was selling a 27 pound bucket of macaroni and cheese to begin with?

Anyone have other recommendations from Costco or Wal-Mart?

Peanut butter...its high in protein. Buy a book on plants native to your area.

Ask yourself: What preservatives are put in that crap to allow it to "last" for 20 years?

We have a friend who has a fire extinguisher business. My husband got something from him and put in the contained. Don't know what it was but to be sure it was something put in the extinguisher.

Beans will get hard over time and from what I have read impossible to soften. My possible solution would be to grind them up and make some kind of bread.

You'll need it in the summer. Well, even if you are working hard. Salt provides the essential sodium for the sodium/potassium processes in the body.

Mash them up after cooking them and make re-fried beans out of them or add them to bread batter like you would applesauce.

Soak them over night before cooking them. Throw the soaking water away, con'g use it for cooking. Or use them for seed.
