No, you're wrong. "First off", not all federal workers are lazy scum. And many of those that are weren't that way before they entered federal service. Working for the federal government can -and will- corrupt even the purest of hearts. TRUST ME on this!

Secondly, if they did go into federal service with some measure of integrity, why should you condemn them for finding a well-paying job with some of the best bennies around? Sounds pretty SMART to me! Beyond that: once upon a time the government only wanted the BEST and the BRIGHTEST - and you had to take a 4hr Civil Service exam to prove that you could do the job. Anything less than a 72% score and you were out the door. Today, those standards have been lowered to the point where a functional illiterate can qualify... and if you happen to have a disability [mental or physical], you are automatically management material. Thirdly, the workers didn't create such an uneven playing field, it was the federal Agencies themselves -or more accurately- their employee UNIONS that did! People are very quick to accuse the government of overpaying it's employees but the TRUTH of the matter is that the UNIONS are the ones that actually set those rates [through nearly endless contract arbitrations that make the current federal impasse pale in comparison], right along with the other exorbidant demands for employee "parity"... which is already skewed so far above the private sector that it's an insult to all working Americans.

Now: admittedly there ARE thousands of really worthless federal employees. I'm a retired fed myself [who had to pass that monster 700-series Battery exam to get hired] and at one time it was my job to make sure everybody else did their work... and I was hated for it.

I was called a mean, vicious Supervisor just because I demanded that everybody EARN the paychecks they received... I was just doing MY job. It was nearly a lose-lose situation for me personally: I learned at my Daddy's knee that every man should give an honest days work for an honest days wages, but when those wages are so far above the national mean that some of those people couldn't earn that kind of money even if they worked 24/7/365, it quickly becomes a lost cause. And my integrity was constantly getting me into hot water not only with upper mgmnt but primarily those SOCIALISTIC, all-powerful UNIONS. The stress from fighting them both nearly killed me and I took an early retirement... even though if I had stuck it out for just a few more years, I would've been "set" for life. When I left, my retirement benefits were cut by 2/3. But it was worth it just to escape that snakepit.

As it is, I may only get a small monthly federal pension and my Social Security but as least I still have my self-respect intact!

And Sir, you are absolutely correct: those federal employees whining about empty paychecks are ungrateful Bastards who obviously never gave a damn about their country or their jobs - jobs that are supposed to make this a better nation for ALL citizens. They ARE parasites and all they care about is the money... and never mind that oath they swore to uphold when they were hired... if they took one at all! I did. And I honored it every day I was on the job. I have that to be proud of, too.

Yes! Quitting last week because they couldn't pay their bills? I thought federal workers get a paycheck on the 15th of the month and the 30-31st. I'm pretty sure that's when the military receives theirs.

This is not the first time I have seen people say they have no money when they likely have thousands socked away in a 401(k). I even lent money to someone like that, which was stupid of me, but I did get paid back. All these federal workers will have a decent pension when they retire while most of us not working for the government will only have SS when we retire. They should also realize that one of the risks of working for the feds is that the government will get shut down every couple of years because that seems to be what happens and they should prepare.

Unnecessary workers need to be laid off. Government shtudown need to be forever.

We need to slash our entire government at least in half. Eliminate the IRS, CIA, Dept of Education, Dept of Housing and Urban Development, and everything that has to do with subsidies for lazy fucks who don’t want to work.

I agree 100%. And many more worthless agencies as well. I was HR for a manufacturer for 11 years. Not once did the owner come to me and say" hey George, please hire 5 or 10 non-essential employees, please."

First off, federal worker is an oxymoron.
They got a stub with zeroes yesterday and some of them posted it crying about it, possibly expecting or eliciting sympathy.
When they get their next check with money, let them post THAT and see how much sympathy they get.
I call them social parasites.

Most of them are on a power trip and want to lord it over citizens. The other half are incompetent lazies who can't be fired but are paid exorbitant rates you can't get in the private world. I would be embarrassed to say I work for the Federal government, personally. They're overgrown children.

At worst they are getting a paid vacation, more likely they are working side jobs and double-dipping, they are going to come out well-ahead of what they would have made.

It’s true in the DC area. They don’t tolerate republicans here at all. The prevailing attitude is vote Democrat and vote yourself bennies. Everyone that had or has the potential of being directly or downstream affected by lack of income has credit cards to cover the hole.

Back pay has already been voted on by both houses of congress and signed by the president. When the back pay comes in you pay down the credit cards. Been doing this since '71 so it's an old hat routine. Just eat the interest and service charges (if any if it's a short stay)
