The problem is, it is all BS. When you tell someone your going to do it, your committing two sins:

1) Your deed is premeditated in the worst sort, and your guilty of mocking your victim.

2) Your challenging the Heavenly Father in the context of creating your own prophecy and then actualizing it, a form of blaspheme.

The only reason why it seems that it works, is because the charges become alot worse, so it takes longer for "karmic debt"/"sin against God", to manifest the end result. Plus, they are asking for the Heavenly Father/God, to screw with their plans in some way, as he get's off on doing that to them.
