If Rich / Successful People Are So Great, Why Are They Such A$$holes?

my brother is this way. Rich lawyer asshole.

I've seen him make FB posts telling times he's mocked homeless people when they've asked for money. Anyone with a different viewpoint than him is a less-than ignorant fool.

I've happened to be around them - not really any long term friends - I am friends with a millionaire who is a decent human being and fun to chill with - you wouldn't know he was so rich hanging out with him.

I've been to meetings with some ultra wealthy people - and they came off like the scum of the earth - they talked about their plans to harvest human organs at a profit with stars in their eyes - made me sick - we let him know that his plans didn't sound trustworthy - he responded: "I'm not asking to be trusted" sending shivers through the room - he then high tailed it out of there with a few body guards...

Overall - I'd say they're bad people - you don't get rich from being a nice person...

The few who make a point of bringing betterment to the world - especially professional athletes or my successful musician friend who gives back because they want to - these are truly exceptional people - there just are not enough of them.

True, this is supposed to be where social security comes in...

I'm hoping to use my savings to set myself and family up for a modest and active life out in the country somewhere - not too rural, but not too close to any major cities - close enough to a decent hospital as needed.

But beyond that - I want to support good causes and continue to be charitable, help my friends with their own ventures - giving to them as though I was giving to myself - no strings attached and good luck - doing for them what I wish someone would have done for me :)

I'm grateful to have been able to make a decent living for myself while still relatively young - I don't want to take the corporate ladder route - I want to share the wealth and enjoy it :) :)

Probably there's a correlation between wealth and the amount of people who try to latch on and dip into those pockets. Which is probably not a bother to rich people if you once in a while give 'em wristy to show gratitude instead of take take take.

We should also realize that those rich
old farts and their kids run businesses
that provide jobs for those of us that
enjoy making money and raising a family.
Everybody has a place in this world.
The happy people are the ones who enjoy
what they have in life. The ones who

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but social security was never meant for that.

Nor was it meant as your retirement plan.

It was meant to be a meager stypent for people who lived beyond the average age of death.

Over the decades, democrats have bastardized it.

I'll tell you why you think rich people are assholes.

Everyone continuously asks them for money. It's very tiring.

People are jealous and expect them to pay for everything.

Many of them are just plain anti-social and want to live behind a wall.

It leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

They run modern day slave labor camps, sure.

I'm glad I went into business for myself so I don't have to rely on them and their moods.

Yes, happy if you look the other way from the inequality and imbalances in this world.

No need to lust, some people just don't want to starve or have to sleep in the rain! But oh well, they have their place in the world - it's on the street or in the dirt!

It's their own fault anyway so fuck em!

Theres been a couple threads on glp over the years exploring the negative side of being rich.

Examples that I find interesting:

1. There's always gonna be someone with more than you.

2. People will be trying to steal from you.

My personal favorite:

4. You still have to wait in lines, there are alot more rich people than you can imagine, all competeing for the same expensive tastes and thrills.

People who are lucky enough to know exactly what they want and bold enough to go out and make it happen irritate people who haven't made up their mind and/or are sitting on their ass. We try not to laugh at you, actually.

I know nice rich people actually. (I'm not saying I haven't met successful jerks, I have)

It is out of fashion to be rich. That is a sad thing because rich people should spread their money around like manure.

Instead, now, they keep it on the downlow. When they should be hiring all their neighbors to dig pools, put in rose gardens and panel the billiard room.

Some successful people aren't rich, as people have said here.
