Maybe it was the asteroid's hard impact on the planet that caused the planet to shift on its axis? If an earth quake can do that why couldn't a huge asteroid?

[ link to newatlas.com (secure)] I truely think that the crust only cracks in certain areas and that causes localized mass destruction and dieoffs, look at the fact that north america was uninhabitated unil the last iceage. or did something happen to kill off everything and everyone that was here? I read there was mass extinction event that happened in North America that killed off most of the animals and I would presume humans too. Scientists don't know what the event was.
