We can own handguns as long as they are long-barrel pistols actually. A family friend has GSG 1911 long-barrel pistol and long-barrel Taurus. Can own Shotguns and rifles in semi-auto.

The Irish backstop. There is an invisible EU border between Northern Ireland (UK) and the Republic of Ireland (EU). To keep the border open on the whole island of Ireland while we reach an agreement with the EU the backstop will kick in tying the UK to the EU's customs union so we cant make trade deals with other countries around the world until it ends but there is no set time limit for it to end. So we could still be tied to the EU for years after Brexit.

It's a lot more than that. A lot more. More than half the population owns guns. 100-150 million plus OWN guns. Hundreds of millions of firearms. Exact number is unknown. There are more gun owners and guns in the state I live than there exist in the whole UK.

Read my other post. Center fire semi auto rifles and most handguns are banned. The only semi auto rifles that people in the UK can own are rimfire.

Yeah shotguns in traditional form only, not pumps and rifles in bolt action. My old next door neighbour had a shit load of legally owned stuff he had to give up, pump went as did some of his rifles, all his handguns he put in a gun club in the Ilse of Man to avoid the stupid set buy back prices as some were valuable. He now has just shotguns i believe.

That 1 gun for every 64 people is probably correct but something like 98% of people have no access to a gun, just farmers and toffs that belong to shoots that own dozens etc. It is even hard to get a shotgun licence now, you have to jump through hoops to prove you have a legit reason for wanting one.
