A federal appeals court on Tuesday largely upheld the Texas immigration law known as Senate Bill 4, which bans so-called sanctuary cities in the state. Among other provisions, the bill allows police officers to question the immigration status of anyone they arrest or detain, including during routine traffic stops. “From an operational standpoint, from a policy standpoint, it will have no impact,” Chief Art Acevedo of the Houston Police Department said of the law. “The problem is the perception problem that it creates, that local police officers are going to be more interested in immigration enforcement of people who don’t bother anybody.” ----------- In the case i linked to above the Illegal CHOKED His family member and was given 4 years probation but has an ICE Detainer.. but "Accidentally walked out!" which really means they will not admit to breaking state law by letting him go! ----------- "They have followed requests from immigration authorities to hold detainees suspected of being in the country illegally — another provision in S.B. 4 — while reassuring anxious and outraged immigrants in their communities." Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner: “It remains my position that the Houston Police Department is not U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and H.P.D. should not function as an arm of ICE,” Mr. Turner said later in a statement. Amazing.. and very recently a piece of shit wanted for murder in Houston was caught out of state and they extradicted him back to Houston/ Harris county. Two days of her leading the sheriff’s office saw 39 criminal aliens released. The office also stated that Sheriff Hernandez had declined 191 immigration detainers that her office received before February 1st. 8 more immigration detainers that were received after February 1st. Finally, the sheriff also declined 4 requests from immigration officials that asked to be notified of the pending releases. Texas Governor Greg Abbott tweeted out, “This is why I declared banning sanctuary cities an emergency. Texas will hammer Travis County,” along with a link to an article detailing the initial release of 37 criminal aliens. Think About It. |
