Thanks and I agree.

OK.. empty my cart onto the grocery belt. The cashier scans and bags them. As she is bagging she puts the bags from the turnstile thingy up onto the counter in front of me. I grabbed the bags in front of me. And apparently she left one on the turnstile thingy, because i got home and my loverly bride yells. Dick Head where is the Tea and brocolli.

So now dinner is delayed and back in the car crossing my fingers said cashier is still working and will be a quick process. but NOOOOOOO.. over to customer service where some other gal is writing down on a sheet..etc.

better?

You when the goods are processed and they are paid for that ends the transaction , you are then responsible for the items that you paid for.

Do they need to walk you home as well to make sure you get them in the house and put away safely?

I have had stolen groceries yes and also stuff on my receipt I did not purchase... there are some checkers who do that and pocket of course the extra money and they do it all week long. I once was able to help management of one grocery store to NAIL two of these thiefs..

Both, our new friend. I've done it too.

Last Saturday I left my $40 change in the 'robo checkout'. When I went back someone had already turned it into store management so I got it back.

I'm glad we still have honest people.

Re: Grocery Cashier or me responsible for leaving a bag behind?
Cashier is not responsible. They should make an effort, but if you walk away without having everything, there isn't a mechanism to track it. Watch your stuff. My store has always been great about replacing stuff I've left behind even though it's my own fault. Sometimes, yeah, they should have been more careful. Back when I was a cashier in high school, I ran out into the parking lot to catch people who had left a bag. But I was at an independent store and had more autonomy there than what cashiers have at the big chains.

The cashier is already handling the next Dick in line by the time you put your receipt in your purse.

Your fault, unless there's a bagger you can blame
