Re: anybody else notice this about the poor immigrants in the caravan?
Everyone here knows how to cut hair. It is literally cents to get a haircut. We go to a nice place and pay q15 (less than $2).

Overweight? Worms and parasites causing puffiness. Think of Ethiopians. Also, no one here wants to eat fruits and veggies. They live on bread products-tortillas, breads, etc.

The caravan went through here just a few days ago. They are Central American. There are a lot of kids. We'll see if they're switched out in Mexico like the first group was.
 Quoting: ladulce

That's sad, what are they doing with the children, where did the first group go then?

Rent is not cheap in Panama City. I don't know about elsewhere in Latin America, but here the rent is comparable to rent in the USA.

They have section 8? Maybe that is the attraction to here.

I haven't heard of anything like section 8 here. I wouldn't know. I'm an American expat and don't qualify for any programs like that even if they did have them.

but how much US dollars is rent? USA a dump is $700 a month

A 1200 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in a nice neighborhood will cost you about $1200 a month.

 Quoting: Reepster

Everyone has an android phone here. You can get one pretty cheap, and you can buy cards for like $5 to put minutes or data on your phone.

In a city like Panama City, the average rent for a comparable city in the U.S. is $3,500 for a totally mundane apartment, nothing fancy at all. So then all the people that are sending money back to Mexico from US are living pretty high on the hog, must be nice.

We have a couple at work doing that, now I see why. Even a gross salary of say 500 a week, would leave their family quite a lot of extra cash.

Also he told me medical uber cheap there, especially dental, like super cheap. What a life, compared to us struggling just to pay rent, and many can't even afford any type of medical. Yeah, but we're the privileged ones.

Oh, not to derail the thread -

FACT: Central America is a FAR CRY from Central Africa, I think many Americans would be surprised how well a lot of Central America actually lives, and the fat people in the caravan prove it.

So, they can get a haircut for pennies, right?

Rent costs 1/10th of what it costs in the U.S. and food is cheaper too.

So they look and say, Whoa! the Gringo makes $50K a year. I make $8K a year. My life must suck. And then they go to the U.S., find out it costs $20 K a year to live in the lowest shithole, and WELFARE PICKS UP THE SLACK

Childbirth costs about $300, ALL PRIVATE CARE PRICES.

Absent the scammery, medical is CHEAP. Who needs benefits when there is no ripoff?

FACT: childbirth in a super upscale private hospital with a three day stay, C-section, and a conference room attached to your hospital room so you can conduct business with approximately 12 people will set you back $1,400 in the finest hospital, ALL medical bills paid, PLUS 3 nights. Conquest.

They were kept south of the narrow neck of land by the indigenous Native Americans since about 400 BC till the white man came and conquored the Dineh. The white
man never learned to tell the difference between the Dineh

The Dineh signed treaties with the white man thinking they had a powerful alliance against the Mexica. By the time the Dineh realized the white man couldn't tell the difference,
it was too late. Dineh had lost every power to keep the Mexica at bay.

Now the Mexica have become a horde and are breaking through the narrow neck of land, and all they want is to destroy the Dineh and the white man.

They will rape through taking welfare as long as the white man lays down for that. They will take whatever they can

If you have a decent pension, many Latin American countries including Panama will be very happy to give you permanent status. I even read about Panama that if you're retirement age you can get old-age discounts on buses etc.

BirdMom does that agree with what you've observed actually being in Panama?

I don't know about permission to work or welfare type benefits; I would presume the welfare is restricted. They want you because you bring money in, not because you leech off them.

Re: anybody else notice this about the poor immigrants in the caravan?
They have cigarettes and smart phones they use on their journey? Did central and south American countries get Obama phones paid for by US Citizens too?

Everyone has an android phone here. You can get one pretty cheap, and you can buy cards for like $5 to put minutes or data on your phone.

A carton of cigarettes, not a pack, but a carton, costs $6 in many Latin American countries.

OK, ONCE AGAIN, not to derail this thread -

These IDIOTS are clueless about what they are running from, and where they are running to.

FACT.

Clueless? They've lived in Honduras for 20 years or more. They know what it's like there. They know that they would prefer benefits in the USA.

I know that in one city in Guatemala, there's communication between those in the USA and those who have come back, and of course those thinking of going. It's like a highway back and forth.

I have no reason to think the San Pedro Sula crowd from Honduras is much different -- are they so stupid they don't even keep in touch with the people sending back remittances? I know Guatemalans seem much nicer than Hondurans, the place is more peaceful -- which begs the question of why the Hondurans who say they are suffering so much there don't beset Guatemala with their asylum applications rather than continuing on to Mexico and the USA.
