He just wanted to bring them back. Things have gotten out of control with EBT. Part of the culture of the US used to involve not being proud to take handouts and instead working for what you wanted. How is that culture supposed to continue when your welfare comes on something that looks like a credit card? I don't know what lies they told you, but I can promise they were lies. Silencing yourself and living in the dark just means you've left yourself exposed to the type of people who wander the dark looking for victims who won't scream. There's a fine line between training, trauma, and torture.
