That's because poor people are stupid and won't learn from the rich people.
 Quoting: BRIEF

Why is it that as a society we allow CEO's to earn millions while their workers make $10 an hour.

I remember in the eighties the japanese tried to switch to our economic distribution, and the society was scandalized and did not allow this sort of disparity in income. (not sure if that's the case now, probably not, we all devolve)

While I am by no means a socialist, it is not right that the wealth is in so few hands, but we allowed it, and now it is likely to late to change it as everything is going to robotics and most of us will truly be useless eaters in the eyes of the rich.

Did not think that THIS would be the fulfilling of revelation where you work only for a day's food, but so it is, and becoming increasingly so. Rather thought there would be a cataclysm to accomplish it.

Beware all you who currently make a good wage. Right now they are programming lawyers, teachers, accountants, and any number of professional occupations into robots and AI. You will also become obsolete in time. Robots are now doing surgery.

I don’t understand the current obsession with Robots in the workplace.Don’t get me wrong there are good uses for Robots in Car/Airplane/Agricultural/ industry, medicine, tricky operations.

We now have situation though, where Big Business are using Robots only for maximizing profits. Especially in the unskilled labor sector. They are literally forcing unskilled workers, for example a hypothetical Burger flipper in to a long-term unemployment useless eater, State dependent situation.Big Business might save say £4 an hour in overhead costs using a Robot to flip burgers.
However, the government picks up the long cost of having to provide unemployment benefits, housing benefit etc. Likely running in to tens of thousands of pounds for an unskilled worker.

There are millions of people here in the UK that fall in to the unskilled labour category. Mostly In the retail industry, losing their Jobs to self-serving Tills, Robots etc.

Over the next few years Robots are ear marked to be taking millions of Jobs from the unskilled worker sector. Many of these people will be poorly educated, and have no chance of getting a Job in the skilled sector.

Big business will see negligible rise in profits from each one of these people forced in to unemployment. However, the government will pick up a bill that could run in to billions as more, and more, are forced in to long term unemployment. Big business does not give a shit about the socio-economic impact of their actions. In my opinion this is a financial ticking time bomb.

I dunno about the economics of it, but the companies will do what garners the most profit with the least hassle both work wise and regulation wise.

China is already way ahead of us in robotizing their factories, and do not think that this will affect only unskilled workers.

As I said, robots are doing surgery and doing it better than people. They are diagnosing, and doing it better than people.

They are doing accounting and not making any "human" errors. They are teaching, they are learning law, they will soon be driving and at some point I think it will become illegal for us to drive our own car.

We will gravitate to the limit of technology as we are in the time of increased knowledge but little understanding and just as in today's schools they don't want people to excel, the world of tomorrow will be much more uniform as even the most motivated, intelligent person for the job will be beat out by a robot.

Not sure how long that will take, but it's coming and incrementally, people will be replaced in all fields.

I am quite certain that there will be a mass culling one way or the other at some point, as like you say, the govermnent's will have to foot the bill for all who cannot support themselves.

We will be back to feudal times in a way, but since we are no longer agrarian, there will be no need for serfs, only a few to service the machines, and all this malarkey about a universal wage is just bullshit out to appease the people and prevent worry. They'll slaughter us wholesale.
