We did nothing when they took Tibet, and it's vast riches in minerals and such, because of international relations.. what makes you think we'll do something if they take Taiwan?  I hear ya, and proof will be in the pudding as they say. I do believe that once China comes for Taiwan, the US will likely be brought into it, as to do nothing would give China complete control of the strategic waterways, and such Chinese action will force several APAC nations to act. The Senkaku Islands are roughly half the distance from Taiwan as they are from mainland China, which would allow Beijing to bring far more force to bear in an attack on them. It would also allow Beijing to approach the islands from roughly two different directions. Furthermore, Taiwan’s strategic location would greatly enhance China’s ability to interdict maritime shipping to and from Japan. I don't have the link handy, but recently on GLP there was a thread about a Chicom general giving a speech on their long range plans. He told a group of military officers that they had to conquer not only Taiwan, but also Viet Nam, Japan, and, eventually, the USA. He also made it clear that he and many others believed that the Chinese are a superior race who evolved separately from the "barbarians" in the other nations. Reminds me of a certain German leader who preached racial superiority and destiny. Turned out poorly for the poor schmucks who followed him. BTW, for the conspiracy theorists here, Japan claims it does NOT have nukes. However, I am told by my sources in intel that this can change in 15 minutes as they assemble the components. The Japanese are well aware of the hatred the nuke armed behemoth has for them. I would expect the Chicoms to use tsunami bombs as I suspect they already have.
