I understand that Maduro doesn't want to let the aid in from a country that's trying to topple him, as it would be classed as a victory for 'team regime change', but if using force to stop the aid results in injury and death, which would also be a victory for the US, and play right into their hands, wouldn't the former be preferable to the latter? Tactically speaking, wouldn't Maduro be better off letting the aid in, and checking it for any smuggled in weapons, etc, than to use force and cause further escalation and risk giving the US justification for military intervention?
