In October 2019, the Venezuelan opposition signed a $213 million contract with the private military company Silvercorp USA to overthrow incumbent President Nicolas Maduro, a document issued by The Washington Post showed.

According to the publication, the Venezuelan opposition had to pay about $213 million to the company for the operation.

"These funds will be for the purchase of communication, planning equipment, and travel. The estimated total project cost will be 212,900,000.00 USD for 495 days", the document read.

The paper is said to have been signed by Sergio Vergara, a member of the opposition-controlled parliament, and Jordan Goudreau, CEO of Silvercorp USA.

Guaido's representatives have previously denied any connection to the mercenaries' failed operation.

US Wants Release of Two Special Forces Veterans Who Led Failed Coup Invasion of Venezuela

Imperial overreach was on full display this week as the US government demanded that a pair of US citizens — former Special Forces soldiers leading a 60-man invasion of Venezuela with the goal of fomenting a coup and/or capturing or killing that country’s elected president — be released from arrest and returned to the US.

This imagined scenario is, however,

precisely what US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has done, threatening publicly to use “every tool available” to get the two American mercenaries back from Venezuela, the current bete noire of America’s bipartisan foreign policy establishment.

What the US will have to do and how much it will cost to get Venezuela to release the two captured “supervisors” of this latest affront to the country’s national sovereignty will be interesting to see.

Venezuela charges two ex-US soldiers with 'terrorism, conspiracy'and could face 25-30 years in prison.

Venezuela has charged two former United States soldiers with "terrorism" and "conspiracy" for allegedly taking part in a failed armed incursion aimed at toppling President Nicolas Maduro, according to officials.

Luke Alexander Denman and Airan Berry were among 31 people captured by the Venezuelan military who said they thwarted an attempted invasion by mercenaries in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Prosecutor General Tarek William Saab said on Friday they had been charged with "terrorism, conspiracy, illicit trafficking of weapons of war and (criminal) association",

and could face 25-30 years in prison.

Several attackers were reportedly killed in the ill-fated incursion.

The air defense of Venezuela shot down an unknown plane

A few hours ago, the Venezuelan media reported an unknown plane shot down over the country, which violated the borders of Venezuela and did not respond to a warning about the opening of fire, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing news agency Aviapro.

As a result of the missile attack, the plane was destroyed – the fate of the people on board the aircraft was not disclosed. However, given the damage sustained by the aircraft, the people most likely died.

As follows from the information provided by the Venezuelan television, the aircraft transported drugs, while the aircraft moved at a low altitude, trying to circumvent Venezuelan air defense systems.

After several requests and warnings about the opening of fire, the plane was shot down – according to some sources, an anti-aircraft guided missile was fired at the aircraft (judging by the damage, it could be a Buk air defense system), and according to other sources, the aircraft was shot down by the Venezuelan Air Force.

Maduro: Guaido Behind Failed Operation Against Venezuela

The Venezuela's president asserted that lawmaker Juan Guaido ordered the operation intending to assassinate him, teleSUR reported.

"Silvercorp wanted to cause violence with Guaido’s endorsement. He wanted to kill me," Maduro denounced.

The Venezuelan president stated that the signatures of Guaido and other opposition figures were confirmed to be in documents revealed by US mercenary Jordan Goudreau.

"The mercenary contract is signed by Juan Guaido, Jordan Goudreau, JJ Rendon and Sergio Guevara," he highlighted.

The head of state also denounced to the international community the complicity of the Colombian government of Ivan Duque in the operation, which was neutralized by the joint work of a civic, military and police coalition on the Venezuelan coast.

"If there were some agencies in Colombia that would investigate independently, they would have all the evidence of Ivan Duque’s participation in the armed incursion against Venezuela (...) We have captured three more mercenaries," the head of state indicated.
