The only base Maduro has is the criminal officers in charge of the military. Any resistance in the past has been made to disappear with typical strongman tactics. Millions are starving and fleeing the country. The United States tries to help and gets accused of trying to colonize. That video is a joke.

I get the feeling you didn't watch it all. They discuss many points there.

Maduro and Chavez didn't help the situation no, but the US were influential in placing sanctions upon the nation declaring Venezualea a threat to its national security...

It snowballs from there.

You say his only base is his military, but there are also the 6 million or so people that support Maduro. Yes, there are many marching against him, but there are those who support him too.

As for the US trying to help, there's a long history of US involvement in that part of the world (and other pats of the wold too of course). This article lists some of it:

That intervention is definitely motivated by more than the desire to help people.

Venezuela has a population of 30 million, they weren't all on the streets the other day, and many of them are aware, and wary, of this history of US intervention. As Paul Jay points out in that video, both Chavez and Maduro played into this wariness, by often denouncing US imperialism, and this goes down well with many people over there, people who wouldn't be happy with US intervention.

And they're not only blaming the US in that video, they discuss what's needed for there to be any chance of a solution in Venezuela. They discuss that from this point in the video:

It would have been great if Communism stayed on the Asian continent. Fine, stay there. divided by seas.

With communism moving into South America that pulls the US into continental war.
All those fleeing South America will flock to North America, logically. Thus the Wall.

I see Jorge Arreaza, Venezuelan Foreign Minister is sat next to Russian rep Vasily Nebenzya, just waiting to hear what he says. Watching Nebenzya,speaking right now. He's talking about the history of US interference in South America. Quite an exchange between Pompeo Nebenzya, and the other countries going on here.

WTF. Venezuela had an election only last year where the Guaido's opposition party refused to be included on the ballot... It's one thing to claim your votes are being discounted and claim unfairness that way but quite another to claim the sitting President is illegitimate when you the opposition refused to even be included on the ballot.
