“The Unites States is withdrawing troops from Syria, while they’re going to start a new war in Latin America, but we’re not going to give them that satisfaction. Peace and stability, and understanding will prevail in Venezuela in spite of the efforts of all the countries here are who trying to incite a war” ~ Venezuelan Foreign Minister

Elliot Abrams , US.

“This is not about foreign intervention in Venezuela, it is not an attempt to impose a result on the Venezuelan people. Democracy never needs to be imposed. It is tyranny that has to be imposed. This discussion in the council is about the right of the Venezuelan people to direct their own internal affairs and choose the future of their own country democratically. Thank you”

Abrams started by saying he hadn't planned to speak today, and imo, it showed, and he looked uncomfortable.

It would have been great if Communism stayed on the Asian continent. Fine, stay there. divided by seas.

With communism moving into South America that pulls the US into continental war.
All those fleeing South America will flock to North America, logically. Thus the Wall.

East and West divided by oceans. Would have been Perfect.
 Quoting: MissCleo

It sells a war too, who wants refugees pouring across the US border, and justifies the wall in the eyes of some.

it seems like US/Guaido won't be interested in talking, although both Maduro and the Venezuelan Rep at the UN today said they are open to talking. Seems like US/Guaido will only be happy with Maduro standing down or being overthrown by some means (maybe not military at this stage, but by other means). But Maduro (together with his military) sounds like he wont be standing down. What do you think? . . impasse, as you say.

Cuba request the floor to state Pompeo is a liar and a fake news monger!!!drama

Venezuelas Arreaza follows with it's own request to speak, claims Colombians and a Peruvian from Miami plotted a failed attempt against Maduro, claims to support Colombia in the only armed conflict in Latin America, tells European countries that gave Venezuela an 8 day ultimatum to take that time to think about their actions.

Colombia to defend it's dignity and responds against Arreaza claims, oh boy.

and the Russians call for the floor to state that the majority of countries want non intervention, oh it appears Nebenzya is a bit paranoid about the number 8, calls it a "formula" ask "Why 8!? Why not 7?"

and like that the meeting is adjourn that concludes todays UNSC emergency meeting,Till the next time.

Pompeo pronounces the name of Venezuela 'interim President' as
"Gweedo"

Gweedo - typically from new jersey, an italian who commonly uses way too much hair gel and has many homosexual tendancies, even though they pronounce themselves straight. commonly found in clubs and bars surrounded by gross easy chicks (urban slang)
 Quoting: Pacifica

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calling the figure Washington is attempting to install as Venezuelan President "Juan *Guido*" - as in the racist term for Italians. America's top diplomat didn't even bother to learn how to pronounce his puppet's name.

I'm following this development with a bit of a worry. Thinking here that Mister Putin wants to look like a strong man and Syria seems to be forgotten by now.
If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes.
