The Foreign Affairs Ministry is said to have announced this, but who is he working under? Maduro? If so, then I thought the US didn't accept Maduro as the President, so do they even accept this as real?

Why not? Pompeo does not seem deficient in normal human feelings (unlike a lot of our leftists.)

The first UN rapporteur to visit Venezuela for 21 years has told The Independent the US sanctions on the country are illegal and could amount to “crimes against humanity” under international law.

Former special rapporteur Alfred de Zayas, who finished his term at the UN in March, has criticized the US for engaging in “economic warfare” against Venezuela which he said is hurting the economy and killing Venezuelans.

The comments come amid worsening tensions in the country after the US and UK have backed Juan Guaido, who appointed himself “interim president” of Venezuela as hundreds of thousands marched to support him.

So many of these UN "rapporteurs" are clearly pro-left and pro-Muslim, it's not really necessary to listen to them.

People with left-leaning biases tend to think unless a person is soaked in an "I feel your pain" ideology, they therefore have to be interested in, and can only be concerned about, money, greed, power, domination and takeovers.

Whether of the left or right, when honesty, rationality/common sense, integrity/ethics take a back seat to "I feel your pain" - as ultra-liberals in particular are experts at - that's when the inhumanity and misery are ratcheted up to high.

Not understanding the irony and contradictions of liberal feelings and leftwing biases is a major mistake in human history.

As for Russia, they aren't going to be shipping troops to Venezuela either, nor are they going to give Venezuela much if anything in the way of aid ... they have massive economic problems themselves with the low price of oil, and they want to keep their military assets close at hand because of Ukraine and potentially the Middle East. Lip service maybe, but anything in the way of HARD CASH or Military support? Furgetit!!

The ONLY thing Russia might be interested in short term with Venezuela would be a base to resupply their submarines ... but even that is highly questionable since Russia could more easily go to Cuba which actually has a functioning economy, including a stable supply of electricity!!, and good ports!! and good airports!!

It all started in 1997 when Exxon signed a contract with Venezuela's state-run oil giant P.D.V.S.A. to extract and process heavy oil from a part of the Orinoco River Basin called Cerro...

Chavez nationalized the oil. It was viewed that those oil companies were reaping big profits from the Venezuelan oil at the expense of the Venezuelan people. He did ask the companies there to allow for Venezuela to buy their stake in the oil business. Most agreed to do so, a couple didn't. Sure it's far from an ideal situation, but the Chavez govt. still made sure the US oil companies received financial compensation.

We can say that Chavez wasn't someone who was willing to sellout his people. He can be praised for that at least. Before he came to power a great many Venezuelans lived in desperate poverty and after he came into power the living standards for all Venezuelans increased dramatically and he made sure there were no longer second class citizens.

And since then we see the economic sanctions imposed on Venezuela, which have crippled the country, as punishment for Venezuela daring to reclaim their sovereignty from the US globalists.

Well let's suppose Russia did what it's probably able to do, which is to seize military control of the best oil producing areas and introduce a somewhat more market oriented economy, and reinstating Chavez's policy of giving stuff away from oil revenues.

Russia has the technical expertise to do it, and it would LOVE to have a port on the Caribbean.

Do you think we're going to sit back and exploit a failing regime to establish that port on the Caribbean?

and, the point now is, of course, that Maduro and his Aministration are In,
and Gweedo is not.

I think that this may be only partially true. We wouldnt' move without substantial support, and we clearly have the support of the east side of Caracas if not the west side.

Those weren't globalists - at least non-Venezuelan ones - ordering small business owners a few years ago in cities like Caracas to not just dress up their shops for the Christmas holiday but to also sell their merchandise at a certain price point.

However, a lot of globalists based far beyond the borders of Venezuela do have the traits of Limousine Liberals and Champagne Socialists located everywhere. So a globalist residing in Venezuela or a globalist residing in New York City, Paris, London, San Francisco or Beijing may be a distinction without all that much of a difference.
