Let the Venezuelans stew in their own juices.

They elected the guy originally, after they previously elected the other Socialist (forgetting about the most recent election). SOCIALISM is what Venezuelans WANTED ... let them stew in the juices of their own making!!

Let their economy collapse even further ... and widespread famine occur in a place of easy agriculture!!

Venezuelans WANTED SOCIALISM ... let them HAVE THE FULL FLAVOR OF WHAT THEY WANTED!!

(and it serves as a good example for the rest of the world as to what happens with Full Blown Socialism in a modern economy ... noting that just 15 years ago Venezuela was the richest country, with the highest standard of living, of ALL of South and Central America)

STOP!!

STOP trying to save people from the CONSEQUENCES of THEIR OWN MAKING

OK... but ignoring the problem creates a Russian and Iranian military threat right on the USA doorstep

Iran is going to ship troops to Venezuela? You have to be kidding!! :-) .... I can't believe YOU really believe that. How are they going to get them there? How are they going to attack the US even if they go there?

As for Russia, they aren't going to be shipping troops to Venezuela either, nor are they going to give Venezuela much if anything in the way of aid ... they have massive economic problems themselves with the low price of oil, and they want to keep their military assets close at hand because of Ukraine and potentially the Middle East. Lip service maybe, but anything in the way of HARD CASH or Military support? Furgetit!!

The ONLY thing Russia might be interested in short term with Venezuela would be a base to resupply their submarines ... but even that is highly questionable since Russia could more easily go to Cuba which actually has a functioning economy, including a stable supply of electricity!!, and good ports!! and good airports!!

Your reply reads like you are making up stuff so as to justify the US Military invading Venezuela.

STOP trying to save people from the CONSEQUENCES of THEIR OWN MAKING!!

The Venezuelans voted for Socialism ... so let them now WALLOW IN IT'S CONSEQUENCES ... and more importantly thus SERVE AS AN EXAMPLE TO THE WORLD what Socialism really does to a society!!

Well let's suppose Russia did what it's probably able to do, which is to seize military control of the best oil producing areas and introduce a somewhat more market oriented economy, and reinstating Chavez's policy of giving stuff away from oil revenues.

Russia has the technical expertise to do it, and it would LOVE to have a port on the Caribbean.

Do you think we're going to sit back and exploit a failing regime to establish that port on the Caribbean?
