Just a thought...Trump may launch airstikes into Venezuela during his meeting with Kim Jong Un at the end of this month just like he launched airstikes on Syria during his meeting with Chinese Premier Jinping.
Quoting: NeoWolf Nothing will happen. Remember the failed decapitation strikes on Saddam during Iraq 2003?
Ground forces will have to go in to get him. Maduro is not going to go easily. The only way this will be solved peacefully is if the Venezuelan military gives up supporting Maduro or removes him from power.
But anyway if we want to get him, we will have to go in and there will be some casualties. The terrain is more difficult than the Middle-East (Air-power wont be so effective) and the Mestizo/Pardo fighters are as violent as the Arabs/Muslims.
The US invasion of Grenada in 1983 cost 19 US troops killed, and their military was much smaller and weaker than Venezuela's.
Grenada's military in 1983 - 1200 (mainly Blacks plus some Cuban advisers). 7300 US troops sent in, 19 killed.
Venezuela is 350,000 strong (mainly Amerindian Mestizos/Pardos & mixed-Middle-Easterners) - who have a higher IQ, more violent and brutal. It will need a much larger invasion force.
There will be easily be over a 1000 US troops killed, perhaps upto 5000. Is it worth so many lives lost? Further countless more refugees will end up here.
