With electrical power shut down it will become much harder for the opposition to communicate and gather and thus pose a threat to Maduro's rule. Please use your heads people. And what about the possibility that having no power for so long could stir up massive civil unrest? Which Maduro and his police/military would have to deal with. And if dealing with it resulted in deaths, and even more unrest, then Maduro will be blamed for this. More and more chaos, and out of chaos, order must be returned, and US military intervention may be required to restore that order. An outcome that would not favour Maduro, but would favour the plan for toppling him. If this is goal of this power failure, then it would make sense that the US is behind it.
