It is worth pointing out:
***** IT COULD HAPPEN HERE *****
Even though the US Electrical Grid is maintained far better than the one in Venezuela, a similar "Cascade Failure" can take place here.
How would YOU fare under such circumstances?
Do you have an Emergency Electric Generator to keep your refrigerator operating so as not to lose all your food?
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter Yes. Two of them, in fact.
Do you have some spare fuel for that generator or for your car?
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter 50 gallons, stabilized, rotated annually.
Do you even have a spare fuel can????
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter Dozens, along with basic siphoning tools.
Do you have Emergency Water stored (1 gallon, per person, per day, for at least two weeks?)
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter 90 days. Without rationing.
Do you have a gravity-fed water filter in case your water runs out and you need to get water from a river or stream?
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter Lifestraws. But we are on a well/septic system and I can run the well pump with one of the generators.
Do you have shelf-stable emergency food to eat for at least two weeks?
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter 90 days, not counting fishing or hunting.
As we here in the USA watch the horror unfolding in Venezuela, it would do us well to realize IT COULD HAPPEN HERE.
Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter It's not a matter of COULD. It's a matter of WHEN. People better drop some of their nationalistic pride and wake up to that fact. The US is one computer virus away from becoming a third world country at any given moment. 72 hours into a national blackout such as what Venezuela is experiencing right now, and you won't recognize your country any more.
