For anyone who wonders how the Venezuelan power system was destroyed, a look into graphite bombs, already used successfully during the war in Yugoslavia

Graphite bomb is a popular name. The more scientific name for this kind of bomb is conductive fiber bomb, short circuit bomb or anti-electric facility bomb. The typical graphite bomb is BLU-114/B developed by America and applied in Kosovo wars in 1999

There is such a problem here. Maduro would blame a cyber attack whether or not it is true, so his statements have no value. It may be weeks, if ever, that we can learn about what happened.

So horrible to see a city the size of Caracas without potable water. It is likely to be tragic, and soon.

Unlikely this anger will be redirected. Too much visible evidence and history of deferred maintenance. The systems are mostly relics of the pre-Chavez period, built in the 70's and obviously not revamped, nor maintained properly. People know. It was written about extensively (globally) as recently as 2016 when the reliance on the one dam for such a high percentage of their energy created a long crisis and national emergency, including a shorter work week and scheduled brownouts, etc.

As the old saying goes, "Deferred maintenance is the most expensive kind".

No, this mess isn't going to be palmed off on some poor slob with a thumb drive -- it's systemic, and long-term. The problems have been known for decades. The political atmosphere has caused those able to do the delicate work of fine-tuning the systems which must be in sync to milliseconds, to quit the area.

Maduro is a sad excuse for a dictator. His emperor's new clothes aren't giving him cover.

Maduro Presents Details of Attacks Against Electrical System

The Venezuelan government indicated that the attacks against the electric system in the country were made through three phases.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, today described the electrical sabotage perpetrated last Thursday, March 7, of the most cruel blow in the history of the South American country.

From the Miraflores Palace (headquarters of the government), the Head of State explained all the steps for the reinstatement carried out by the officials and workers of the National Electric Corporation (Corpolec) before the cybernetic attack against the Venezuelan Electroenergetic System.

In this regard, the president explained that the first attack was made to the technology area of the Simón Bolívar hydroelectric plant (El Guri), which supplies electricity for 80 percent of the nation.

Maduro, emphasized that after 70 percent of the service in the capital was restored, the vandals paid by the opposition physically attacked the La Ciudadela substation, located in the Baruta municipality, Miranda state, to shut down Caracas again.

Faced with the insistent situation of destabilization, the dignitary ordered the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to monitor the territory to guarantee the safety of the citizens. He went on to explain that the three phases of attacks came about as follows:

1) Cybernetic attack:

An attack on the computerised system of the company CORPOELEC at the El Guri hydroelectric plant.

A group of cyber warfare experts was used to recover the system.

2) Electromagnetic attack:

Mobile devices with high frequencies were used to knock down communications.

3.) Physical attack:

The burning and direct bombings of substations and electrical stations

The president denounced that the sabotage is "a great violation of human rights in our country by the right wing, who celebrate national suffering."

Less than a year after the death of former dictator Hugo Chavez, Venezuela is on the verge of an economic breakdown. Inflation is soaring; the currency, the bolivar, is drastically losing value on the black market; and foreign currency reserves are dwindling. Even Venezuela’s once vaunted energy sector, crippled by lack of investment, is failing to generate enough revenue to subsidize domestic giveaways.

Nicolas Maduro: Attacks Against Electrical System (Full Speech With English Voice Over)

 Quoting: Pacifica

Maduro speaks about a number of things in the above 30 minute speech from yesterday. Here's what he said about the Electric:

The first attack was made to the technology area of the Simón Bolívar hydroelectric plant (El Guri), which supplies electricity for 80 percent of the nation. Maduro, emphasised that after 70 percent of the service in the capital was restored, the vandals paid by the opposition physically attacked the La Ciudadela substation, located in the Baruta municipality, Miranda state, to shut down Caracas again.

Faced with the insistent situation of destabilisation, the dignitary ordered the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to monitor the territory to guarantee the safety of the citizens.
