Other people have said this, and I agree with them; all these troubles are a result of resource contention.
Last night I was under the impression that oxygen was running out, for instance.
Now that seems a bit silly, but there's no doubt that things that were once plentiful are now in serious decline.
It is said that the ancient people had no real problems when it came to having enough food to eat, even though they led a lifestyle of hunting and gathering.
The reason for this is that the worldwide tribe of humans was so few, and the bounties of the land so great. It is said that you could go to a river and gather enough fish to feed a village.
Now things are just not the same, we utilize fossil fuels in order to produce food... And those fuels are slowly being depleted.
Resources are running out. And it's going to get worse.

Or just say "fuck it" and pull a Hitler and wipe out the whole neighborhood? Two evils don't make a right.
