Seems like nobody here has purchased these food groups for a year or two years or whatever. I think we are doing better to gather as we are, a bit at a time of real food - if someone here has purchased food stores from a company such as this would you be willing to tell us so?

I have a small quantity of Wise Food.

I didn't buy more because it doesn't taste right.

I'm shocked at their cheating ways. Just think about those who believe they have adequate nutrition and calories for a year. Did you read what will happen to them if that's all they have? Hard to believe a company would do such a thing to the very desperate, counting on these goods to save their lives. I'm disgusted!

Congratulations on first post on page 100 of our terrific prepping thread!

I will celebrate page 100 by telling you that several months ago I put 3,000 cash in smaller bills in a little flexible fireproof container we ordered, and hid it somewhere safe. I am only 64 and didnt think my memorory was this bad but I cant remember where. You need to prep cash. Lol. Ive been tearing the first floor apart. Hubby is taking it really well but we are not rich. He did make me show him and the trusted kids where the silver is again just to be sure, so that's ok. But sure wish i could find the cash. I guess i should be glad i found the big stash of matches....if the grid goes down matches might be worth more than gold.

Sit down and think like you have that 3,000 in cash in your hands and where you should hide it.

I'll bet you'll remember your stash place eventually.

How about in the garden? Somewhere outside? That's where I'd put such a box.

Better way to recall the location is to totally relax and not think about it. Spend a few days not thinking about it, and don't let anyone speak to you about this temporarily lost item, nor be looking for it. Deliberately don't think about it. It will come to you.

I often have to ask the Holy Spirit where something is because on my own I cannot find it, and He either shows me or reminds me. Thank God!

Losing things is upsetting. Just relax and let it come to you.

So sorry this is happening, but it will change - I'm sorry it's taking so long and I think Trin knows he'd better get something moving soon or he might lose people.

If you have to buy such foods, find a way to do so at CostCo. Guaranteed content.

I bought a can of something from Walmart - don't recall what it is. Have the dried soup mixes from CostCo and a seafood thing from where I don't recall. Hot water foods have always been my intention, long before getting the wonderful butane burner. So many things can be made with only hot water, and hot foods are always more satisfying to the stomach. Cold foods not so much.

While the cheating by selling inferior products was the main issue with this food company, and the reason for requiring their customer list, I still will wonder until we hear something, whether those households have any extra "investigation" at any point, especially the ones that bought the greater amounts. Glad my name isn't on that list.

So what help will it be to the purchasers to have part of their purchase price returned? Were it me, I would like them to take the food and give me back all the purchase price, so I could use the money to purchase something more appropriate, even if piecemeal from the grocery stores. If they are stuck with these inadequate foods, they will never trust them, and are forced to great calculations to learn what they still need to purchase, to go with which foods, to make the nutrional and caloric contents adequate.

Just a horrible deal all the way around. I'm ashamed of another human being doing this - what if S already HTF and the families were forced to try to survive on what they purchased in good faith? Hope they have the book on which locally available edible plants they can forage!!!

PS I have or had something from Mountain House that I know to be good. Just one can, however. Wish I could afford Don't know what word I used here but the program put in a four-letter word I do not use!! to have a wish list somewhere - cans of cheese, please! LOL I could almost live on cheese. Butter, too, would be nice.

Anybody think, in their "what ifs", what if the power going out is the first thing, and everything in your freezer is gone within three days? How much loss of preps will that mean to you? If it were right now, two or three hams would worry me the most. A big chicken. Cheese and butter. That's about all, but it's a lot, for one person, to lose. I'd cook the chicken if possible, of course. The rest of the items would last outside frozen conditions, at least for some days. Of course the iced tea popsicles would not, but I could dump them into a bowl and have drinkable tea for a while. It's mixed with fruit juice, so a healthy drink saving on water and other juices and liquids.

Think about it, folks. Sit down and think about freezer contents and set a plan. Be ready with the most efficient plan you can come up with, to save as much as possible in one way or the other. Do what another lovely person here suggested about buying the big boxes of salt - 24 or 50 lbs pickling salt, I believe it was, and preserving some of your meat that way. Set a plan. It's when things take us by surprise that it all goes sideways. If we start with a plan, we are very efficient and make the most of all we have.

We may have an influx of people now from the VZ thread because people there are warning of the necessity of prepping here in case of blowback and I invited those new to the subject of prepping to come here, and begin at page one, which of course they will not do, so we may be answering repeated questions.

Anything we can do to help people be ready is a blessing.

GodBlessYa, where did you find the three-minute pasta? Helper and I both looked today at Walmart and there was nothing of that brand, nor any other package that mentioned limited cooking time.

When we first moved here 33 years ago, the was an old lady named Vera that lived across the road.

She hid her cash in coffee cans buried in her garden. It was common to see her at night with a flashlight, digging around.

When she passed away, her property was bought by a bad Mexican guy. Think 'cartel'. He told us he was spooked a few times by 'an old lady' out there at night.

I told him, 'That's just Vera looking for her money'.

He sold the place.

Pooka, there are multiple ads interspersed in the thread, even within individual posts. It is maddening.

I can't stand ads. 25 years ago, I told my wife that ads would be the death on the Internet.

You mentioned butane cans. A few days ago, I saw a huge display of them at the local Walmart. They were the 'push and twist' connection type used by those tabletop stoves they also sell.

My daughter in Japan was asking if they are available here in the states, she was looking for the threaded connection type. I know I have seen those as well, mostly in the smaller mom & pop stores.

Figure the money was in a fireproof container...so you would still be thinking of keeping it safe from fire.

Outside under a rock? or in the garage?

Stuffed into a chicken that went into the freezer?

In a bucket of sand?

Let's just say I hope you have new ones in your preps because this pair isn't long for this world. Just think, too, if you had to jump out of bed in a hurry and run to protect your dog - with that elastic so shot, they'd fall down, trip you, you'd hit your head, knock yourself out, and what would happen to your dog, as well as everything else?

Toss the ones you are wearing in the back of your toolbox and use them next time you change your oil.

Re: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor
I invited those new to the subject of prepping to come here, and begin at page one, which of course they will not do, so we may be answering repeated questions.

Anything we can do to help people be ready is a blessing.

----------

No problem. The more we help others prepare the less they will start losing it like they are in venezuela.

Drinking sewage water? These people are in a panic and not thinking...and it's going to cost them their lives!

If there's any info we can offer to prevent that from happening to any people here...I'm more than happy to help!

Those poor folks really need to take a deep breath & think logically, rather than making stupid decisions in the heat of panic.

Hold it!!! How'm I gonna get into a pear tree? And do I get all the pears?

---------

Crunch and I will hold the corners of a blanket & fling you up there :D

You can keep all the pears you can pick & hold onto.

My spy camera works well, doesn't it? By the way - those shorts you have on - a crime against fabric!

Now you are freaking me out. These shorts aren't bad for an old white guy with preps. They aren't even the camo ones.

Damn. Will do.

I am now reminded of a guy I saw at Walmart a couple of mornings ago. It was shortly after 6 AM, because that is when I go there.

He was pushing a small 4-wheeled cart with what looked like stainless steel milk cans on it. Not the tall ones that are often sold as decor, but shorter squat cans in two sizes. One looked like it could be 5 gallons, and the other was smaller.

A younger, cowboy-looking guy. Wearing a kilt and some beat up Wellington boots. I shit you not.

I now wish I had been more awake and paying attention, because you don't see that every day.
I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street.

I'm not certain this plan is intended in all friendliness and kindness! A blanket toss! AI YI YI
