Do you think a simple solar panel would be damaged? It isn't electronic, just crystals and a couple of wires.

I can't say for sure...but whatever you connect that solar pannel to would likely be damaged.

Found myself wondering today if there is any advantage in having a flip phone over a smart phone, in an EMP or other power issue. Is it possible a fliphone would come through better than a smart phone? Possibly, but neither would be of any use if the cell network is down. I am thinking of what is happening with the cell phones in VZ - they work sometimes, in some places. I am going to optimistically assume the same will be true here.
