I had to come back on my tablet. Laptop went nuts. Keyboard types by itself, windows scroll and can't relieve it even plugging in another keyboard, sigh..it's like a scene from The Sorcerer's Apprentice. We had one of those combo storms, like the Postal Service slogan: rain, snow, hail and dark of night too and I have leaks so maybe a drop of water got on it and....fried it?

Now I'm online trying to learn how to take the thing apart right, all by myself, sniff sniff. It's the trade-off of being 200 miles from anybody who could tell me anything. Microsux site chat told me to take the motherboard out and I 'can still use the device, just not the touchpad.' Do you think the guy was just making fun of me?

My keyboard is messed up as well, I spilled something in it. It got down into the motherboard as well (no, it won't work without the motherboard).

Here is something you can try. Unplug it and remove the battery. Hold the power button down for about 15 seconds. Openit up and stand it on it's side and let it sit that way for a day or two. You want to drain any moisture out.

I got back almost full functionality after doing this. The Z, X, and spacebar are still a bit persnickety.

I'll probably have to replace the keyboard. After 17 years as a computer/IT guy, I hate working on laptops. My eyes are getting so bad those tiny screws can be hard to see.
