Those $20 Sawyer filters...they were designed for backpackers who operate in mountainous areas. In suburban/farm areas you have to deal with pesticides and chemicals which will go right through those Sawyer filters. Something like that $90 MSR filter is what you need.

Does anyone else like artichokes? They are kind of tough to grow here, but I think I am getting the hang of it.

 Quoting: Crunch62

Very nice growing! Congratulations! Dipped in a little garlic butter - mmmmm good!

Edit: Crunch, did you see my above post to you and the new dam thread?

My grandparents always called the literal tail of a cooked turkey the pope's nose. Obviously, we weren't catholic. LOL

Re: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor
My brother has a large chunk of marsh & I just (3 days ago) planted 6 types of sunflowers over there. I made a bunch of seedballs...a brown paper lunch bag, you put in a handfull of dirt, then 5 seeds, then another handfull of dirt. We dropped them all in the marsh area & now it's rained for the last day & a half.

It should look pretty cool (if they make it).

That's wonderful! Would love photos to show us all when they come up!

Everyone please be advised that matters in the ME are poised to take off, even today. Water water water.

I'm the proud owner, as of last night, of 25 gallons put away. It isn't much, but it's so much more than I had! Don't have room for much more unless I just put it out in the open in the kitchen. Best not to do that just now.

Everybody all prepared? Have everything you need?

Please be aware of the many sleeper cells here in our country, which will be or have been activated. Be wide awake, stay home as much as possible, watch everything. Remember that water sources are one very likely target.

UhOh - reminder to self - Self, you need to do laundry today!

Good job! You are the one here I worry least about in terms of preparedness. YOu do it very wisely and have been doing it for many years.

If you have a couple minutes of warning time you can always fill the tub.

It'll be good for toilet flushing.

And if you don't end up needing it, just pull the plug & let it drain.

A wild mushroom that grows on dead trees. Has a wonderful flavor. It is too tough to eat. It is what I call a bracket type mushroom. They are found all over the world. Rumor has it they cure cancer.

OK...In the context you had used it in...I didn't think you were talking about the ass of a turkey.

Understood...thanks!

Indeed - that's the plan. Also any gray water saved is for flushing. Washing face or hair, sponge bath, dishes, laundry washed and rinsed in a bucket, etc.

Soytenly!

The amount I made was rediculous! It's 2 roasts & 3 ribeye steaks all seasoned & put together...I even put 2 drops of liquid smoke in the pan.

And to top it all off, I used a foil pan so there will be no clean-up banana2

That probably wouldn't work for me. We get got & dry in mid-summer...but you wouldn't know that by our weather lately.

2 drops of liquid smoke doesn't go far with 9 pounds of roast.

Anyhoo, I made myself a roast beast & shroom slider with a dinner roll...Then I made another...then I topped a slice of pizza with roast & shrooms and mild cheddar...then nuked it.

OH GOG I'm full!

I'm not really worried about Lil Kim, he enjoys life too much to endanger it. Now if someone else starts something he might try a sucker punch.
