Many people today drink vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar, for health reasons. It's an ancient remedy for many things, and has long been used to purify water, with the acid content. I learned tonight from a Seattle newspaper article that many vinegars are now being used to mix coctails, and specialty shoppes are making individual batches of elegant vinegars.

Here is a recipe used long ago for Roman soldiers and others - they drank vinegar not just willingly, but gratefully, as their "water substitute". So interesting!
