So I bought a few small squash as part of the harvest decorations for the season, with the intention of eating them this winter. Noticed to day that the turk's turban squash didn't look right around the top. Brought it in and cut it open - about the bottom half is still usable so it is cooking right now with butter and honey in it.
This brought to mind to suggest to all of you that purchasing winter squash right now would be a very wise investment. No canning or processing needed - just a cool dry spot for them, and they will keep most of the winter.
Very high caloric and nutritional density, not expensive, and delicious!
