Re: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor
I posted this in the food shortage thread but thought that it was worth cross posting here for more visibility:
Thread: I ADVISE YOU TO CLICK THIS! It has begun. FOOD SHORTAGES. (Page 34)

Just found a report that studied the movement of food in and out of each county in the US.
[link to www.fastcompany.com (secure)]

It can be pretty hard going at some points, especially if you go to the actual report that is linked there, but basically it points out why the fires in California matter to the rest of the country - of the top 10 counties sending food out, nine of them are in California.

Combine that with potential poor harvests in the Corn Belt and we suddenly have a perfect storm in front of us.
 Quoting: Lowkey Cyberpunk

Could not have said it better myself - a perfect storm indeed.

Couple the food shortages imminent to the UN activities to the impeachment activities to the FEMA activities in both California and Canada [Yes, it is now worldwide. Who knew?] to the threat of ME war to the partially shutdown banks in Argentina soon to appear in a country near you, to the threat of a cataclysmic earthquake and tsunami reaching far inland from the west coast to the threat of a bomb in a Seattle stadium this Sunday - and there is more and more. Yes, a perfect storm has landed on us, and it is only building momentum.

Re: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor
So I bought a few small squash as part of the harvest decorations for the season, with the intention of eating them this winter. Noticed to day that the turk's turban squash didn't look right around the top. Brought it in and cut it open - about the bottom half is still usable so it is cooking right now with butter and honey in it.

This brought to mind to suggest to all of you that purchasing winter squash right now would be a very wise investment. No canning or processing needed - just a cool dry spot for them, and they will keep most of the winter.

Very high caloric and nutritional density, not expensive, and delicious!

About food - excellent listen, despite the advertising. I recommend this man. He puts out multiple videos per day, always with the very latest news, generally long before anybody else.

I've got it all spooled up and ready to play but it's almost 3:30am here and I was just breezing through GLP to see what was going on. Will watch it later today.

In May 2016, the USA approved a set of principles that give the green light for UN peacekeeping troops AND POLICE to use force to “protect” citizens in armed conflicts, but the agreement does not specify exactly where. The Blue Helmets are coming, and the American police force could now be a part of a global police force.

If you're a cheap drunk like me you could use that boxed wine bag as an inflatable pillow for bugging out. (Adjustable too. Eat your heart out my pillow) Wouldn't take up much space deflated. Hell you could use it for something buoyant for water traps too.

I bought a kite today and you are going have to find things that are cheap and help you to relax still. Like Playing Cards, Chess and Checkers Boards.

Food for thought today, Happy Sunday!

Jigsaw puzzles, word game magazines, learn to juggle, sew by hand, women purchase needlework kits of whatever kind you enjoy.

I like great big pictures to fill in with color. Takes my mind off all troublesome things. Same with paint-by-number - I toss them afterward, but they totally relax me in the process.

Make apple heads - find instructions online now and save.

Enlist neighbors for a game of bingo with gag prizes. The friendly play will enhance relations for SHTF activities in the group.

Learn to carve, but VERY carefully.

So many things a person can do and enjoy. Acquire the games/tools/books/instructions now - if we are fortunate we may have a lot of time for pleasant pastimes even after TSHTF.

Pretty mundane prepper stuff...

Wifey said a hen was attacking our rooster and she wanted it taken care of.

So, I slaughtered the hen.

A couple of years ago while I was slaughtering roosters, one got away. I was irritated by his attempt to escape.

I grabbed him by the neck, put him down on the board, and WHACK! Sliced my left index finger right down the middle with the machete. Split the bone down the center.

Nice docs at the VA saved the finger, but it does not function much now. Its fused.

NOW, I use the tool that they sell for cutting PVC pipe. It is like a large set of pliers with a sharp blade. It ratchets so it can easily cut through bone.

Use some wire to hang the bird by the feet which keeps them pretty calm. Snip off the head.

After the flopping stops, you can snip off the ends of the wings and feet easily.

I like the PVC tool because I am leery of sharp blades now.

We kept our hens way too long out of attachment and now they don't lay much...too old.

I have a huge turkey, four drakes, and about 20 chickens to make into soup this winter.

They are too old for anything else but soup; too tough.

So good to see a post from you, Darth! But very sorry to hear about the terrible whack to your finger and the aftermath! Glad you found a better approach to the problem!

All that poultry soup might be exactly what's needed this winter, considering our entry into the mini ice age, and all the bugs that float around trying to infect us. Science has proven that there really are things in chicken soup to help people get well from viruses!

Please take good care of yourself and take it easy!

Re: Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor
Cottage cheese was back in stock in my favorite grocery yesterday - what a blessing! Bought four and between my dogs and me, we ate a whole pound carton [or is it half a pound?] just to make up for lost time.

At a small grocery, small compared to Walmart, Safeway, Kroger - at the beach the other day I happened to be in the area on other business and saw their sign about a case sale, so of course I stopped. Pears canned in pear juice, a case of mandarin oranges, a case of cream of chicken soup because they were out of mushroom, unfortunately, and a box of fifty pounds russet potatoes. I'd stocked very, very little fruit til now, so that was necessary. Soup is for casseroles and such, to make them more filling and calorie-dense. Always good to add to whatever size stockpile you have. Mine is small, so additions like these are exciting.

When purchasing canned fruit, always try to get the type canned in juice - far less added sugars this way, the juice is healthy, and it adds to liquids needed for drinking daily.

Pork is about to become far harder to find, and far more expensive. Among other parts, I recommend purchasing the packages of bacon ends and pieces, cooking the bacon not quite done, then freezing packages of it with the bacon grease still on. Finish cooking the bacon and there is grease for cooking eggs, or adding to your bacon grease jar. On sale it is cheap, the bacon is high quality, and so good to have it frozen and ready to toss in the pan for just a few minutes more cooking time.

Remember potatoes are terrific in nutrition and caloric density. This is the time of year to purchase them on sale. If there is a farm near you, go for it there - often they have bags of mixed sizes far cheaper than buying bags of singular sizes.

People, please hurry up with your preps - we are in real trouble for food! Have you noticed how many recalls there are these days for contaminated food products? I don't think this great number of recalls is coincidental. Remember Agenda 2030! Check out the next video.
