Maduro was elected as a Nationalist. The country had the 5th wealthiest economy, but 80% of the population was poor. The elite oligarchs that lost power when he was elected never accepted the peoples vote.(sound familiar?) These elite controlled the business and are CIA backed. They held the people hostage since Maduro's election, starving them out to foment the conditions you see now. The elite in Venezuela and CIA created/groomed the new president during this period. He is a graduate of George Washington University. He is also a graduate of an elite grooming school in Venezuela that created the leaders of Chile.
