Either one of the Herbie the love bug films from the 70s or Blackbeard at a sit in theater. Drive in was Definitely Smokey and the Bandit. That became my favorite movie. I was 10-11 and that was the 1st place my dad (RIP) took me after he and mom divorced. Funny, every time I see that movie or a black Trans Am I think of dad who, according to mom tried to look like Burt. I can now recite every line from that movie and point out the different edits for TV and Theater. I was lucky enough to Meet Burt Reynolds a few weeks before he died. |

I remember being scared of the fire scene. First movie as an actual family, was Star Wars in 1977 and my mom actually brought my baby brother (which was a mistake) as we had just moved and didn't know or trust anyone to be a babysitter. First drive-in, lol, was when my parents were still young and wanted to go the drive-in. There was a double feature of Grease and then Animal House as the 2nd movie. We had a 1962 Impala with those large bench seats and I wound up sleeping in the back seat as Animal House played at 10pm. |

There were hundreds of screaming and crying kids asking "WHY?" Quoting: grannyB I remember lots of mad parents trying to explain it to those kids … including me. NOW I know why!!!! Today the parents would end up suing Disney and the movie theatres for an emotional trauma payday. |

We were a Portuguese/Italian family and so, seeing dead dear, rabbits and the likes was common as all my Uncles were hunters. Picking out a local chicken or rabbit that was killed right there was commonplace in the "downneck" Ironbound part of Newark was how it went. When we moved to the W.A.S.P. area we did when I was 4, the neighbors weren't used to all of the things we bbq'd all summer long either, lol. |

Quoting: Freckle Face I could not stop thinking about this first movie, so I finally found it online. The Great Waldo Pepper “The Great Waldo Pepper is a 1975 American drama film directed, produced, and co-written by George Roy Hill. Set during 1926–1931, the film stars Robert Redford as a disaffected World War I veteran pilot who missed the opportunity to fly in combat, and examines his sense of postwar dislocation in 1920s America. The cast includes Margot Kidder, Bo Svenson, Edward Herrmann and Susan Sarandon. The Great Waldo Pepper depicts barnstorming during the 1920s and the accidents that led to aviation regulations by the Air Commerce Act.” Link [link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)] |
