YELP is a SCAM
Beware if you’re a small business owner.

When you refuse to advertise with Yelp they will remove your positive reviews and leave only negative reviews. They did this to me. I literally had many five star reviews that were removed and I had one negative review that was bogus and that’s the only review they left for my business. This was done after I refused to pay for advertising on their site. They also flagged this one star review as the first review I received for my business which was an out right lie.

They currently have a ton of lawsuits against them and many complaints by businesses who have had this issue with them. You can check out YouTube videos with people having this issue and you can also research it on the Internet. I plan to file a complaint with the federal trade commission once the government opens back up, but I don’t expect any results as many people have brought lawsuits to know avail.

I would like to let consumers know that you cannot rely on Yelp reviews. They lie. They allow good reviews if they are getting paid by that business. If you want fair reviews pay attention to Google.

Spread the word so we can let the public know, Yelp uses extortion to force businesses to advertise with them. If you have their app one star it and tell them why. It’s a big businesses like this that hurt small business owners and they don’t care.

You’re welcome. The only way to avoid having yelp scam you is if you are a small business owner and they call trying to get you to advertise with them don’t say no just put them on for as long as possible. That’s the only way you won’t be flag and have all your good reviews removed. If you’ve already advertise with Yelp and you stop you’re going to be screwed sooner or later, most likely sooner, like me.

Do not trust Yelp reviews. They lie.

Re: YELP is a SCAM
Definitely.

Yelp will delete or make much less noticeable the bad reviews about businesses IF that business pays them.

Once I hired a REALLY bad contractor after looking at his Yelp reviews, and I didn't know at the time that Yelp hid his bad reviews - you had to click another small link at the bottom of the page to view his bad reviews. All his positive reviews remains up on top and visible, so it looks like he is overall good. The contractor I hired turned out to be a NIGHTMARE.

Yelp should be shut down - they truly do use extortion against businesses.

Believe it or not there’s absolutely nothing I can do. If you research this problem you will see that it’s widespread and many people have sued yelp and haven’t been able to get any good results.

Yelp as caused many good small businesses to lose customers.

Ohh yes, and the leads are fake, invented just to get your money. I remember I got 2 calls from customers only. They said that around 48 click on my add, they charge me $480 for just 2 real calls and 48 fake.

Exactly! This is another issue with them. There’s a bunch of people on YouTube talking about this.

I have been so pissed because I work my ass off to provide my customers with the best service possible and I’ve been in business for 12 years and always try to treat my customers right. And I had a ton of five star reviews and one negative review from some crazy person that I could not help.

Wow, that's crazy. I hope they get their A$$ sued for this. I know that a lot of the reviews are fair and good, but sometimes I do wonder about some that have bad reviews, when I don't think the business is that bad.

You can’t delete anything. You have absolutely no control of your business listing. You can sign up to become an advertiser and then add your business hours and information about your business, but once you do that you’re hooked. All businesses are listed on Yelp whether they want to be or not.

Well, I'll never trust Yelp again. It's sort of like Amazon reviews that are being gamed. You have to look at the reviews or check out fakespot.com to know if the feedback is bogus (pro tip, they're fake a good 70% of the time!)

What good is a review service is the reviews aren't reliable? Hope this works out for OP!
