I liked the story of the general in the war of the rebellion ( civil war) .. "bravest man I ever saw" ... "surrounded by a thousand men" . "Picked up a rock , smashed guy in face " . "Then he was shot dead" .

They'd prob say what we say today . "They're possessed by the devil " .

Honestly I don't think they could comprehend this shit . And I'll bet they wouldn't want no part of our "awesome " advancements.

I love old people. Love listening to them. Love talking to them and asking them questions. They've so much more to offer than today's "young folk" (yes I'm only in my thirties STFU I feel old )

what sucks is the REAL old people are almost all dead and its these NEW old fucks

Absolutely fascinating video.

My grandmother who was born in 1885 would definitely be bewildered by our modern world.

I was 16 y/o drinking a glass of ice tea and she, for some odd reason thought it was booze. She shouted, "Get thee behind me Satan!"

She had severe blockage of her carotids and had dementia at 76 y/o.

I just think about the things that I admired about her. She rose at 4 AM, lived almost entirely off her tiny garden and chickens, and canned everything in sight.

She made beautiful quilts some of which are still in the family.

She married at age 13 in an arranged marriage which she was strongly in favor of.

I wish I had spent more time talking to her and my other Grandma.

My other grandma was a frontier cowgirl, well educated and tough as nails. She had stories about her cousins and uncles being killed in Indian attacks in the 1870s in Texas.

Young Brethren of GLP, TALK with your elders! Record the family history. Learn their wisdom. The time may come when you need it.

They all sound like old peoplebin Looney Tunes cartoons. Now we know why. They really sounded like Tweety's mom.

Forgot to add, my great grandfather who was born in 1855 lived to be 95. He was a sheriff in the Old West when Texas was still pretty wild.

Why not try tracking down the relatives, if there are any? Maybe they haven't seen the video? Might be an interesting experiment.

Morality, dignity, and honor were the norms back then, people generally had integrity and were SATISFIED by the content of their character and they died with peace of mind...

Kids today would feel imprisoned and punished in their world.

That is a lot better audio quality than I would have expected from equipment in that time period.

It's great that they spoke with such distinction and respect for each other. You can see the respect others had for their elders at the time.
