As they say, "Earth is the cradle of mankind, but mankind cannot remain in the cradle forever".

If some total doom does not occur, we WILL colonize space.

Imagine if the Vikings had continued their exploration of the New World eventually crossing the Gulf of Mexico and encountering the Aztec Empire.

Word of the incredibly rich, but primitive, empire would have spread through Europe.

Europeans would have crossed the Atlantic hundreds of years earlier and conquered the New World.

We can SEE the riches of the Solar System. We KNOW much of what is out there.

While our technologies are still somewhat primitive, it is only a matter of time before entrepreneurs amass the trillions in funds necessary to colonize and industrialize the Solar System.

The amount of resources is mind-boggling. Using only asteroid and Luna for raw materials, we can create O'Neill type habitats to house TRILLIONS of humans in an ever expanding civilization.

Hundreds of millions of years ago, the first animals colonized the land of our planet. Space is an endless ocean in which to live. Life will find a way.

Ad astra

One of the biggest costs, and holding us back in terms of colonization etc, is escaping Earth's gravity. If we get a more efficient propulsion/launch tech happening things will move forward really fast..literally and metaphorically.

Yep.

"Non-rocket spacelaunch refers to concepts for launch into space where some or all of the needed speed and altitude are provided by something other than rockets, or by other than expendable rockets."
