It's not the church they are targeting, it's Christians. I agree the Catholic Church is currently led by the False Prophet Pope Francis. The Jesuits usurped Pope Benedict. Now Comrade Francis is heading to Central America to "help" those poor migrants...errr...refugees...or what ever the MSM and NWO call them now. I call thousands of abled bodied 18-40 yo males an invasion force.

ISIS walked into Malawi Phillipines, killed the mayor and police chief and raised the ISIS flag.

US sent troops to take back control but the battle wasn't over.

Same played out in Thailand, Burma/Myanmar, India, like the plague.

This is sad. I'm grateful I can still go to mass in peace in the United States. Hopefully it stays that way.

This church has been targeted several times in the past. In 2013, two people were hurt in a grenade explosion; in 2012, a grenade attack damaged the roof; in 2010, a grenade exploded in front of the church; and in 2009 an IED detonated outside a hardware store about 100 meters from the church killing six people and injuring dozens more with two more un-exploded devices found near the church. There were also other attacks, but I can't remember the details right off the top of my head.

There was actually a plot uncovered a few months ago where the Abu Sayyaf had plans to bomb the church. In fact, the street in front of the church was closed for a while to prevent any attacks, but was recently re-opened. Even before that plot was discovered there was one as far back as 2016 as well. I found a link for that one,

[link to www.philstar.com (secure)]

The Catholic leadership in that region supported the BOL and urged members of the Catholic Church to vote yes.

Since this church has long been a target of the Abu Sayyaf, it is highly unlikely that this recent attack was directly related to the BOL, but the timing to do this today may have been chosen since this was the first Sunday since the vote took place.

Not sure why I haven't seen you in other Philippine related posts before. I saw from your profile you're from NC and do missionary work here in Philippines. I just do volunteer work with the PDRRMO/NDRRMC agencies when needed.

I know quite a bit of Philippine history from 1898 to present day, not as much before and during the Spanish Colonial period. The only thing I know regarding ARMM, Abu Sayyaf were from security briefings as a contractor for the US govt. I got first hand accounts of Marawi from Filipino and US advisers stationed at Ft. Magsaysay here in Central Luzon.

I still pray for peace, but it would seem there are those who seek otherwise. Which part of the PI's does your organization assist?

Thanks for the well wishes and prayers. I applaud the work you do there in Luzon. Hopefully there won't be much need for your services anytime soon as that area has had enough disasters over the years. As for peace coming to the people of the Philippines, it's doubtful that will happen anytime soon, but there is always hope.
