Putting an electric blanket on them may do the trick...or it may make them burst faster.

No promises.

I just know it worked for me.

I did that once about ten years ago.

I had to dig up the sidewalk in -10 degree weather because it burst underground.

Don't pay a plumber. Fix it yourself.
Buy gallon jugs of water to drink.
Use sanitary wipes instead of showers.

are they frozen outside or inside? I lived in an apartment and they froze because I was on the end unit, I put a heater under the sink and that worked but I think people with homes need to do something to the pipes on the outside of the house. maybe a hair dryer?

Yeah. They're like that in Europe and Africa too. Drives me to fucking drink. They're like "we don't need AC, there's only 90 days of hot summer."

Or, "we don't need real heating, it only snows sometimes."

Re: Bah! Forgot to turn on the damn faucets--pipes froze...
Hairdryer

Paid a plumber once when I was young and that's what he did ...

When it's zero or below I put a small ceramic heater on the pipes in the basement coming up to where kitchen pipes are exposed

ALL Y'all in freezing country - leave your cupboard doors open under kitchen and bath sinks so heat can get in there

If pipes are in the OUtSIDE wall of the house - put a heater - or extra insulation or heat tape on them - easier to prevent problems than fix them.

We insulated the hell out of outside pipes when we remodeled and that helped a lot

I'd shut your water off so you dont wake up to a flood tomorrow.

Fellow hoosier here, i dealt with that before, not fun. Hopefully you have a basement with access to the pipes and not a slab.

eventually the planet when man is balanced will be straight up and down... no winter... and no excessive summer either.

Just talked to Al Gore on the phone ... and he said that was IMPOSSIBLE!!

Global Warming has so heated the earth, per his projections 20 years ago, that winter in Minnesota is now really like winters in Georgia were back in the 1970's ... so NO PIPES WILL FREEZE!!

Must be a made up story. Scientifically IMPOSSIBLE per the Global Warming Projections!!
