Sounds: My grandmother had auditory hallucinations the year before she died, and they were most prominent if it was quiet or if there was white noise (e.g. a fan/AC or rain). However, if there really are sounds, they should be able to record the sounds. Modern dictaphones have surprisingly sensitive microphones (just get the settings right), have capacity for 12+ h recording, and they aren't that expensive. Or maybe you could stay overnight to make first-hand observations. Human side: the worst you can do is to dismiss her experience. No matter if the sounds are real or not, they are real to her. It doesn't mean that you have to believe in them, or feed her belief in them. They need support and being there when it happens would be the best move I can think of. Aside from the mental aspect of Alzheimers, there is a chance she has a urinary tract infection. I've known several women who had mild infections but terrible hallucinations. They stopped after the infection was treated. Quoting: justanothergranny Praying for your grandparents and you - this is a stressful situation to be sure. I was thinking this as well. Hallucinations due to a urinary tract infection may sound odd, but it can happen. It’s something to look into. Also, is it possible that a rodent or squirrel could have chewed through the cable line? This is a pretty common occurrence with fiber optic lines. I put a link to a picture of the cable itself you can tell it was cut its too clean to have been an animal chewing it. My mom pulled telephone wires out of the wall, thinking someone was listening to her. Did lots of damage and was kicked out of her apartment. Next apartment she stuffed the toilet and caused huge plumbing issue. It's their way of asking for help. Old people get stubborn too. It just takes some calm and patience to get them to relax. Use simple words and take charge. |

The cable: Coaxial cables have a woven metal shield inside, so I find it hard to believe that some critter would have chewed it through. They don't just snap either. How did it look? Was it frayed, or did it look like it had been cut? Eventually the hallucination goes away and they are less agitated. Get them focused on something else. Sometimes this takes hours, days, and that's ok. They just want comfort. |

We do the best we can for family and temporary arrangements will work out. Old people prepare to die. Sometimes that's quick, or it can last a few years. In that time there are tender emotions, and lots of changes. And it's fascinating to watch because we all go through it. You will also need to secure her bank account while grandma/pa still have some senses. So trust is an issue. Just put your name on their checking accounts. This is super difficult because people rip off family members all the time. And it's alot of work. and totally worth it. |

Yeah, I just edited my post to include the human side of it. Dying is a process. In the end we kind of lose our wits. And we need help. It's really simple. The human side is a factor. And the human side is what is so rewarding to experience. Here's a great opportunity to be closer to family and do what we were intended to do. And hope that someone cares for us when we are unable too. |

I’m sorry but what a bitch to accuse your grandpa of having affairs with her hallucinations. I can’t stand people like that. Yea she may be losing it, but you know he’s probably had to deal with her insecurity from way back. Quoting: Miss Bunny Swan Maybe grandpa! liked the ladies in the seventies. Sexy times. Granny could be having flashback memories to hearing grandpa with his ladies through the vents. |

Funny story. My mom thought she was married to Robert Redford. And some how they were separated and he didn't know how to get to her. Every night she would verbally call for him to come get her and guide him like a GPS to get to her until she fell asleep. This was her own way of comforting herself because she was actually embarrassed about her situation of losing control of her body and fading into death. So I let her call for Robert every night, just listening, like when a baby cries itself to sleep. And then the next night again until she was pissed off that he didn't come and moved onto Albert Einstein, he was smarter and could come find her and come get her. adorable. |

Interpretation: Grandma is saying that she doesn't trust grandpa. Because grandpa doesn't care about her. Reality: Grandpa can't take care of her. Family intervention is needed. Old people can't think straight anymore at some point so we have to listen carefully to what they are meaning. |

That's a good link. Explains the symptoms and how to react. Making a plan to care for elders is difficult. Diagnosis doesn't mean the medical system will take the elders in and care for them, it just identifies and suggests medication. I drugged my mom, made her a zombie, and she slept a lot and was less agitated. That helped to calm her down but then she would pee herself and not care. Plastic bed sheets, depends diapers, all part of reality of aging. Unless the grandparents have lots of money they can't afford nursing homes or "retirement" communities. At some point the family has to become involved actively. |

Grannies histamine may be low. Being her some bone broth, meat and fish. Ildefinorely look up hearing voices, normal people hearing voices, and nutrient deficiencies/toxic exposures related to hearing voices. It would be a shame to brain damage granny with Ameriicanantipsychotics forbidden in Europe and discouraged by the WHO as brain damaging—but good enough for Americans. Look into dietary adjustments. If you can find a good naturopath or osteopath consult her. Your own research might be such as good. There could be some situation in the house—leaking pipe inside a wall—causing mold making granny hallucinate and grandpa getnmore religious. Definitely check out whether voices can be heard through the vents. Voices do carry through air vents. Suburban people know you can have conversations through the vents, call the dog through the vents, spy on one another etc. Sound travels across water and along pipes. Ewmwbwe the tin can and seeing telephones kids used to make. Granny’s ears might be very sensitive to sound and she could be hearing women speaking anywhere, maybe even over radio phones, through the venrs. Are they always ithe same vents? Maybe there are ladies on the vents and they are coming to take grandpa away. They might be his sisters or mother and aunts. Or just some ladies. You never know. The dying do see and hear dead relatives, sometimes drawing closer. Maybe since grandpa is praying against the ladies granny them for him. It would explain her distress that they are taking him away from her. You might try a spirit box to check for evps. |

I think she has a form of dementia such as Alzheimers or Lewy body disease. They either put her in a nursing home or depending on where you live, give her an aide to stay with her at home. It's very common. There are some medications the doctor can prescribe to cut down on some of the symptoms. As far as the cable goes there may be people sizing up your grandparents . Hide their valuables now. |

Be sure that Satan hates your granddad for telling others about the Lord but there are Guarding Angels there to protect them both. Here is a youtube link to music that may help calm your grandma... [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Lots of other Christian music on youtube as well. Try to find the type of music your grandma likes and keep it "looping" so it's playing all the time in the background. (To loop a youtube video, just right-click the video and click: "Loop.") " Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord." ~ Jer. 17:5 "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" |
