But it's not, mutation is an observable, natural phenomena. Premature birth happens all the time. Turning dirt into an adult man is literal magic. As in supernatural transmutation.

Mutation is one mechanism that directs evolution, but there are others. All the evidence suggests butterflies evolved from moths, and moths evolved from earlier insects. There's no evidence that a supernatural entity caused moths to spontaneously appear from dirt.
 Quoting: DPS7

All the evidence suggests it created itself.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

I never said anything 'created itself.'
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

If not, all the evidence suggests that any number of external factors created it, except for a designer.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

There could be a designer. Evolution is the process where populations change and diversify with time.

All the evidence suggests that you sir are well indoctrinated.

Well, maybe.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

And that evidence is?

Funny how you make a sentence that states mutations direct evolution, what the fuck does that even mean.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

It's pretty simple. Evolution is change over time. The direction in which things change is determined by mutations, epigenetics, transposable elements, natural selection and the environment.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75814481

So here we are.

So there could be a designer and maybe evolution theory is true. How does that work? Or is this just more cherrypicking?

There's no maybe. Evolution theory is at least partially true. Parts of it may change, but evolution is directly observable.
Whether or not some intelligent being designed our universe is another question. It could have. I don't know.

Cherry picking is when you take evidence that supports your position, while ignoring evidence that doesn't support your position. I'm not cherry picking.

I see.

So this time around, evolution theory is 'at least partially true' but surely not 'partially false'.

So 'maybe' the universe was designed, but surely whatever came after that was not designed.

Maybe.

Re: Can evolution explain the transition of a caterpillar to a butterfly?
Butterflies evolved from moths, winged animals that lived in their own cocoons.
Some moth spices passed the youth in the cocoon and only developed wings in adulthood. with the passing of millions of generations the ancient moths have turned into the actual butterflies.
Evolution does not rule out God, it only shows the method he created to diversify species

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

This time around? I have ALWAYS said that evolution theory is at least partially true. I never said 'it's surely not partially false.' I'm not aware of any part of evolution theory that is false. If scientists discover that part of it is false, then they will change it.

So 'maybe' the universe was designed, but surely whatever came after that was not designed.

Maybe.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

I never said 'surely whatever came after that was not designed.' Plenty of things are designed. Where's the evidence for the design you're talking about?

Why don't you stop guessing what my views are and just ask me, because you're always wrong.

And ofcourse 'maybe' became 'partially'.

So you at least believe maybe evolution theory is partially true.

So much evidence yet so much maybes and partials.

Why?

What? Maybe never became partially. When I said maybe I was talking about the insect larva coming from free roaming embryos, not evolution theory as a whole.

Why do you misunderstand every single thing I say? It's really annoying.

Everybody that does not believe evolution theory misunderstands evolution theory.

What does it matter to you if something or someone is honest or dishonest, what is good or what is bad in the light of evolution theory?

By your own belief, there is not even such a thing.

If we'd ever get to the root of the problem, you would see that your own rational and logical thinking would undermine itself by the very belief you believe is the truth.

From maybe to partial to if.

Please continue.

If the fossil records shows one thing, it is that most animals do not change over time. You know, the living fossils. Because they were already adapted before they were born, you know, right?

And yes sir, some animals do change over time and due to external factors, but those changes are drumroll:

1) limited
2) actually observable compared to whatever you believe
3) minor
4) the information to make changes in future generation is .. more drumrolls.. already accessible in the genes of the parent/adult population

Ergo, you can get a finch with a dozen beaks, but it wont evolve dragonclaws, the beak of a heron or the wingspan of an albatros. It will also in general not grow out of proportion and become a guinness world record 1000kg bird.

You can call me whatever you want. You are the one that believes the goo came alive and evolved into everything over eons of time.

You said that if evolution is true there's no such thing as good or bad. Not me. Explain what dinosaurs turning into birds has to do with good or bad.

If the fossil records shows one thing, it is that most animals do not change over time. You know, the living fossils. Because they were already adapted before they were born, you know, right?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

Adapted before they were born? What are you talking about?

The fossil record shows most animals don't change over time? Bullshit. Back that up with something, or it's nothing but a baseless assertion.

And yes sir, some animals do change over time and due to external factors, but those changes are drumroll:

1) limited
2) actually observable compared to whatever you believe
3) minor

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

So a little bit of change is fine, but once that change gets to a certain level, then suddenly life is meaningless and there's no such thing as good or bad. Stupid.

Mutations are not already 'accessible in the genes of the parent.' They appear across generations. You know nothing about genetics.

Ergo, you can get a finch with a dozen beaks, but it wont evolve dragonclaws, the beak of a heron or the wingspan of an albatros. It will also in general not grow out of proportion and become a guinness world record 1000kg bird.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

So you don't think different species of birds are related to each other? Even Creationists like Kent Hovind and Ken ham believe that.

You can call me whatever you want. You are the one that believes the goo came alive and evolved into everything over eons of time.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77301333

Dumbass.
