Food can’t really be ‘blessed’... only people can.

But it’s still good to give thanks to God!

Serious question What do you all think blessing food does?

Will it make it more nutritious?

I guess what I do is blessing. I thank the animals and plants and water and soil and minerals and planet Earth and farmers and people who drove or flew the food to our city and people who prepared the meal and people who served the meal and people who wash the dishes (so I'm often blessing myself too since I grow some of my own food and usually prepare my own food) and I thank the Creator.

By all this thanking, I am acknowledging the work that goes into producing food and the relationship that a meal on the table represents.

Maybe on some quantum level it does. The attention and energy that goes into blessing food may actually add something to it.

You must be catholic? I don’t buy into the whole ‘holy water’ thing. Inanimate objects and substances can’t be blessed because they don’t have souls. Only souls can be touched by God and blessed.

I give thanks to God, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the food that I'm about to eat. I don't bless my food, since Jesus proclaimed that all food is clean to eat.

Its food.... how do you make food holy, what does sanctified food do for you
