The government shutdown spotlights a bigger issue: 78% of US workers live paycheck to paycheck!!
Shocking,,,

Government workers are far from alone in feeling stressed about not getting paid. Nearly 80 percent of American workers (78 percent) say they’re living paycheck to paycheck, according to a 2017 report by employment website CareerBuilder. Women are particularly vulnerable: 81 percent of them report living paycheck to paycheck, compared with 75 percent of men.

Tony Reardon, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, tells CNBC that the group has heard from hundreds of frantic federal employees. “They’re scared,” he says. “They don’t know how they’re going to put food on the table.”

Various #ShutdownStories making that point have gone viral on Twitter.

Most are only one or two paychecks away from bankruptcy.

That is depressing.

Gold was almost $2,000 under Obama.
The British Pound was double the dollar, the Euro was not far behind, and the Canadian dollar was worth more than the USD...
If you cannot figure out what Trump is doing... You deserve to be poor.

I'll post a pic of something that came Friday.

Tips:

Adjust your dependents during the year so you get back or owe about $100 max, total state and fed.

Buy as little house as you need, not as much as you can afford.

Learn real priorities do not include electronics and flashy vehicles.

That is nothing new. People have been living check to check for many many years. Until the elites or whatever you want to call them cares or can relate (ha ha) nothing will change.

lmao

Yep.

Some people's idea of living paycheck-to-paycheck is having to forgo a trip to Hawaii or Disney World. Or maybe cancelling the cable TV subscription or buying chicken instead of steak.

Housing is getting stupid expensive, now being a homeowner and having positive cash flow rental on our property is great but I feel for kids just starting out. Here in Idaho housing is way over priced, it's supply and demand to a point.

First time renters are screwed, I could get 1000.00 a month rent for a single wide manufactured home outside of town. We rent to our daughter and SIL so they're getting a hell of a deal.

Last I looked..the Boomers own 78% of all equitable Real Estate.

They sold Gen X on the American Dream, crashed the housing market, bought up all the foreclosed homes for pennies on the dollar, and are renting it back to us, at incredible rates.

Remember...there is nothing more dangerous than generation with nothing to lose.

Other than 2....

Spare us your cheap, lazy "I feel your pain" biases. Sloppy liberalism generally leads to nothing better than big scams like a Clinton Foundation. Or dime-a-dozen Limousine Liberals and Champagne Socialists having to build even higher gates and hire more security while everyone has to live off the scraps of their two-bit virtue signalling.

If very liberal/leftwing places like San Francisco, Chicago, Hollywood/LA, Baltimore, Detroit, St Louis, etc, had found the magic bullet that creates la-de-dah paradises, I'd change my tune. If societies like Venezuela, where leftism runs amok, were places everyone wanted to escape to, I'd change my tune.

Taxes are out of control. They're my number one expense. I could save for retirement if I could just keep a tenth of what I pay in taxes.

Income tax
SS/Medicare
Payroll taxes
Sales tax
Property tax
Car registration
Building permits
Business licenses
License/permits every time you do ANYTHING

Good credit is also difficult to maintain and vitally important to live in the US.

Most people don't give a shit about 'keeping up with the Jones' but they do want to live in safe neighborhoods. It's possible to find a small trailer to rent for a modest amount, but you'll likely live next to a bunch of criminals with pit-bulls as pets.
