By 2005 the Arctic will be free of sea ice altogether in the summmer. By 2010 polar bears will be extinct and by 2018 the new hypercanes will have destroyed most Gulf Coast cities including New Orleans.

This is a glacier. It's on land and flowing into the ocean. But you're right that the melting Arctic icecap isn't going to directly affect sea levels.

Get a glass, fill it with ice, then with water.then tell us where the waterline moves to when it melts.
Ice takes up more room than liquid water,it expands as it freezes. As it melts it takes up less volume.
The planet is a closed system, it balances itself out.

What people should be concerned about in this scenario is the addition of fresh water and salinity, not flooding.
The north Atlantic current is struggling as it is and it could unleash the mini ice age. Just a thought.

Take a glass and fill it 2/3 full of water, then put a bunch of ice in it, enough so the ice is above the water line and even above the rim of the glass. Let it sit overnight, then report back and tell us if water overflowed the glass.

At Fukushima they are taking cooling water out of the ocean and putting it into tanks, permanently. They are building tanks faster than they are using water and can never stop for about 50 years or so, with no other solution coming. So that should offset any rise from glaciers melting.

I've been thinking for a while that TPTB could be hitting the ice caps with some sort of geoengeneering energy, like microwave or laser. Slice a chuck of ice off, make sure it gets reported on, and collect more carbon taxes.

More water in the ocean = more weight on the ocean floor. The ocean floor will sink and the level of the ocean will fall not rise.

Earths first layer is called the crust. Its kind of the same structure as a sponge. Lots of volcanic tubes and air pockets. When you push down on a sponge it contracts.


No flooding will occur on the continents, just more beach front property.

Small islands could sink though....

It's the volcanoes under Antarctica that's melting it. The ice is being melted from the bottom. It's space weather not us little humans. CO2 follows a global warming not the other way around.

The atmosphere is being compressed due a thinning of the ionosphere. In addition, the north magnetic pole is split into two lobes with the lobe closer to Siberia.

My guess is there was a Rossby wave disturbance.
