Sure, no problem. Unfortunately, I wasn't with her this morning at her appointment because I was under the impression it was just supposed to be going over actual physical therapy. I was staying home trying to get some sleep as I have just had horrible problems with sleeping since this. Her dad and I divorced when she was 2 so we've been taking turns with her care and being with her. I got the call from her dad about the appointment while sleeping, so all of this is just second-hand from him.

I will be present for surgery in the morning and will have better information from the surgeon at that point in time. I will try to get better information on that transplant so as to help share it here with you.

My daughter had her surgery yesterday afternoon. The orthopedic surgeon said that we had the best possible outcome. There was a clean sever through the brachial plexus nerve, so they took a nerve from her ankle area on her right leg and transplanted it into the shoulder. He believes that with 9 months to a year of healing of the nerve and physical therapy, she should have a 65-70% return of function to the shoulder area.

With regard to the wrist/hand issues, he transplanted some of her redundant tendons from her forearm to the wrist area and she will wear a splint immobilizing the hand at a 45 degree angle for 5 weeks. He indicated that once that is removed she will have far better mobility/use with the wrist and believes there should be full return of function to the fingers and wrist with physical therapy.

The poison to be concerned about is the xenoestrogens in our food, food packaging and toiletries. Also the folic acid doping fortified enriched flour products, especially If you are Hispanic or might be Spanish American.

I just wanted to go ahead and do a quick update for everyone who was still following my daughter's progress.

It's been a rough week emotionally for my daughter. She's finally begun to process things emotionally and psychologically now that her pain levels have begun to come down some.

Tuesday she met with the DA. Her ex-boyfriend will face a maximum of 17 1/2 years under Kansas law for the crimes he's being charged with. She was pretty upset with this because her issues will be with her for life. She is also worried that he will come after her once he does get released. The DA said that his public defenders will most likely be seeking an insanity defense. He will probably be shipped out to Larned for 4-5 months for evaluation.

She's also begun to struggle with the reality that she will probably only have a 65% to 70% return of function to her shoulder. I am hopeful that this will be more than adequate for day-to-day function, but I guess we really won't know until the year is up with the healing of the nerve that was replaced and the physical therapy.

Yesterday was a particularly rough day as she was dealing with the insurance carrier for her short-term disability/FMLA and the lady actually had the gall to ask her if her wounds were self-inflicted.

She has her protection from abuse hearing next Wednesday and she is very anxious about that as her ex-boyfriend may potentially be there. I doubt he will be due to his still not being right in the head, but you never know if he will show up. She also has her first follow-up with the orthopedic surgeon for her surgery on the shoulder and wrist on Thursday. I did forget to mention that they removed the stitches from her stab wounds last Friday before she discharged from the hospital and those wounds are starting to heal up.

She is staying with her dad and step-mom because it's far more convenient than my place. I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex, so she cannot get up to my apartment. Her step-mom is allergic to cats so I have taken in her two kitties and am making videos of them every couple of days to help her keep her spirits up since she can't even visit them.

Her ex-husband is making her daily videos of their daughter to also keep her spirits up. She had her first visit since the incident with her daughter last Sunday and she will have an actual overnight stay tomorrow night that she is really looking forward to.

Continued prayers for her are greatly appreciated and further sharing of her GoFundMe as well, as she has a $4500 deductible on her health insurance that she will have to cover, in addition to the eviction fees and she will also face the loss of income until she's back on her feet fully enough to return to work.
