Seriously, Tax returns so bad folks turning on Trump!

I've had to pay 1k for the past 2 years.

This year I got back 7k.

Made a little more this year and paid a little more in, but not to this range.

Good refund, but they were still holding 17k of my families money. So overall I paid the feds 17k to do whatever evils they do.

People in high property tax states will be seeing less of a refund or owe due to the SALT reduction. I am one of them because I live in NY. I used to be able to itemize and deduct about 25K in state taxes but it is now limited to 10k. But I don't blame Trump, it's NY's fault that they are taxing us like this. This is why high earners are fleeing NY. This is going to force people in high tax states to evaluate if it is worth living there.

Everyone has to take into consideration that the tax tables changed last year and everyone saw an increase in weekly paychecks.

You should be breaking even or tax planning each year to get as close as possible to breaking even. Download a W-4 and fill out the worksheets on pages 3 and 4.

Not sure what these people are talking about, just did mine and its within a
50-100$ margin of what i got back last year. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit.

I think my husband and I paid a small amount one year to IRS, next time none, we had more taken out so no paying them anything, at the time of filing.

We just knew whoever came to power they would jerk you around. So, better let them take more, live with a smaller amount, get back the extra after filing. I never was much anyway.

I never understood people who were getting the extra money back, we never were about to receive it and we did not make much. They may know if they have children they are getting more, and I hope their brain kicked in before and not spent before the money was in their hands.

Now that report of those Illegals getting up to 20 something thousands really ticked me off. It was a loop hole.

Last year I had to pay $600.00 because my wife's withholding was off. This year we're getting back $300.00. Nothing has changed. Over the course of time, I've always tried to keep withholdings as close to breaking even as possible. I'll never understand those who delight in a big refund. That simply means you gave the government an interest-free loan.

I've not got a return since obozo was in office. Having mine done tomorrow and will probably have to pay. Paid irs $746 last year.

The Health Ins. penalties have already been eliminated.

That's probably a result of their state policies. State tax is no longer deductible on the Fed return. That's good because under the old law, we were all subsidizing NY and NJ (just to name a couple) ridiculously high tax rates. Now it's on them to either fix it or live with it. Most of the people didn't even realize their state was ass raping them because it got written off and even partially refunded on the Fed return at the expense of the rest of us.

Example : Friend works with a guy that has a minimum wage job and has four kids ... He usually gets back $14,000 a year - even though he only makes $22,000 and his withholdings are zero - using credits - and he gets Welfare to pay for $1200 a month rent and free heat and food stamps

I've seen just the opposite. There's a board with a lot of liberals on it that I'm on for job related stuff. We all get 1099s and all of them are like "I hope I did these taxes right because even though I made twice what I did last year, and I didn't increase any payments in, I got a refund."

They've been falling all over themselves because taxes were not as bad as they thought.

I do know of one couple and both are on disability and they got a refund this year. They were happy with it.

I have not done my taxes yet. I am afraid to. Obamacare still scares the hell out of me.

I have done taxes for over a dozen people. They all bitch about their refund being smaller. What you dont realize is that the health care "discount" you got all year was really just you spending your refund. Personally I used as little as possible for health care and instead of getting 4000 back, I got 9000!

Most are bots. However, SOME people actually are getting screwed by the new tax bill and they are those who live in high tax blue states. The tax bill eliminated the deduction of state taxes from federal taxes. So we have essentially been subsidizing high tax states and Trump closed that loophole. Now citizens of high tax states get to feel the full weight of the high taxes in their state and this will hopefully make them put pressure on their state politicians. If you live in a high tax state, it's not that the tax bill screws you, it just removes a subsidy that the rest of us never got. Now you get to feel the true weight of your state's garbage fiscal policy.

If they're turning on Trump because they're too dumb to calculate their witholding correctly, they don't deserve Trump.

I've learned to adjust my taxes over the years. If you get alot back it means your either paying too much in, and they're making interest off your money. Or your gaming the system with lots of nigglets and your not paying shit in.
