It's true, just look at all the hip hop heads discovering rock and metal reaction videos on youtube - they're like why haven't I heard this music before?

the 1960's - early 80's had no autotune. Singers had to sing.

Just watch and listen to Woodstock, and you will hear people like Joe Cocker singing so strong that his face is red and not pretty!

nowadays you have stupid pop princesses like Ariana Grande who are so lame. No talent vapid personality.

then you had MTV who played the great videos of the 1980's - 1990's.

Then rap infected music :(

Some people say that music comes from how the musician feels within. With all the crap going on in society, is there anything they feel with all their heart that comes out in music? or no, they cant express what they really feel thanks to stupid social justice warriors.

So i think that might be it.

Rock and classic rock died out when mellow rock came about, which were boring, and then disco happened.. (best dance music is disco). Then new wave happened like Depeche Mode, which was a great genre.

I was watching a TV station (maybe it was Reelz) where they documented Saturday Night Fever. Guess what! they said that kids nowadays are reliving the great dancing in that movie and taking lessons on how to do the electric slide, etc, dancing from the movie.. now if that doesn't tell you something, i don't know what!

Tons of videos on YT of young people listening to old classics for the first time and reacting with amazement at the creativity, musicianship and message. Many of them have the realization that the "music" today is one dimensional crap. Fun to watch.

The 50's and 60's had good music also. I like it up to the 80's! The 80's fucking killed it. That's when the rainbow unicorn we are the world shit came out. The 90's were crybaby woe is me grunge. No wonder Kurt killed himself!

Oh I just realized I worded my comment badly. All I meant was I like some 90's and 00's stuff because it makes me nostalgic personally. Didn't mean the older stuff which is probably better than that and definitely better than what we have today

Music today is unbelievably shit.

As a measure of how bad it is, think about this.
Even young people today enjoy music from 1970 more than today's. 1970 is almost half a century ago. If you were listening to music in 1970 and yet preferred music a half century previous to that, you would be listening to ancient recordings from the 1920s, the stuff that the flappers were dancing to.

My nephews , all 5 of them , under the agess 24.
Play video games of course. But all of them watch reruns
of tv sitcom shows made in 70s 80s 90s. Friends Seinfeld Mash what about Raymond etc etc. they do like “the office “” too, so there is one post 2000

I thought the 90s were great for music.
The 80s were full of silly hair bands and shit like Duran Duran.
The grunge sound was very refreshing.

Yes, there are some great reactions on YT.
One black man seemed really angry that he had never known about Janis Joplin.

Grunge was good for low self esteem!

There’s plenty of great throwback music being made today.

You just have to seek it out because it’ll never be played on the radio except for maybe some local college stations.

Lots of good artists with the 60’s/70’s vibe.

Things started going downhill toward the end of the 70s when big money, big venues and tech destroyed the spontaneity and natural talent to pump out formula crap. Some still managed to shine despite it all, but the golden age was winding down.

A lot of Modern 'Music' really isn't music, it's just noise.

There is in fact quite a lot of really good modern music, but it's created by poor singer-songwriters who get no recognition, no air play and only an occasional use in films if someone notices them.

All radio stations are now owned by a single corporation that plays a selected group of mush to pad out the adverts.

If Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and David Bowie turned up at today's record company they'd be laughed at and kicked out: that's just they way it is.

Today's 'music' star has to be very young, talent free and able to be moulded into a BRAND.

Born in 88 myself and was always drawn to Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Bob Dylan ect. Music isnt music anymore, its noise.

Unless someone invents a new genre that doesn't sound like shit, our great-great-great grandchildren will be listening to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
