Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 12:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actual address reported in 911 call is 36551 North Route 41 in Warren Township - having a hard time finding it on a map. This story from a few weeks ago is probably not related, but it's in the same general location: "Lake County detectives were conducting an investigation in the 36300 block of North Route 41 in Warren Township on Dec. 12." Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 01:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think that address may show on maps as 36551 North Skokie Highway, Gurnee, IL 60031 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69950254 Yes that's it - the fire dispatch said it was across from Stearns School Rd. It's a very, very long private drive that leads into the County Forest Preserve. |

It's a motel they used in (I think) that scene where Steve Martin and John Candy have to share a bed? The building doesn't really look the same anymore but you can go see it!" Just down the road from the private drive, but it doesn't look open acc to the July 2018 Google cam. |

I do wonder whether the out-of-state man arrested for the other incident ( [link to patch.com (secure)] was crashing at that motel, possibly, and if that means that weird things go on there. At first glance that seems like one of the few (or only) residential properties in that block. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 01:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not good. I guess she could have gotten off if I-94 onto 41 early, maybe to hit the Shell Station/Gurnee Truck Stop. That is literally a stone's throw from where her body was found. That truck stop is listed as 36725 US-41, Skokie, IL. Maybe a guy who lives at the hotel was hanging out at the truck stop and grabbed her? |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 01:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The son Sam Ryan said, however "It was off the path she would have taken to get to Mundelein. She's done this trip thousands of times." Game time wasn't until 4:30 p.m.; Saturday in this part of the region was super warm, in the 40s, and after the polar vortex had everyone locked inside for days; just brainstorming of course, but maybe she decided to take a walk in Lake County Forest Preserve on the way? |
ladulce User ID: 77324404 Guatemala 02/08/2019 01:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious; why are you so interested in this case? Im from near there. These are really big cities, busy roads, with tons of visitors. Gurnee is where Six Flags is and the largest mall in the US (previously). Gurnee is fairly expensive, but, hosts so many people- it could be anyone. |
AstroBuzz User ID: 72680137 United States 02/08/2019 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's a traffic camera at that intersection... Hopefully there's evidence on that cam they can use to find the monster(s) that did this. Definitely check the cameras at the gas stations on her route from home to destination. I used to live less than a mile, as the crow flies, from this intersection. I moved 3 hrs. North in 2007 because violent crime and heroin use seemed to be on the rise in that general area and I didn't want my kid living there. |

Looking at the destination, and location of the body, might start to piece together some possibilities. The body being so near a very iffy hotel (which shows recent criminal activity) is something to keep an eye on, I think. I have to review the audio again but I believe it was the residents at 36551 who called in the car fire - at first glance it seems like someone might have just spotted a long "road" (really a driveway) that leads into the woods and decided to panic-burn the car there (otherwise why do it so close to the highway--why not take more time)? But if in fact some desperate person took her there (at gunpoint?) why didn't they steal the car? I'm just trying to envision what crime involves setting the car and body on fire (destroying DNA?) |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 02:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Come to think of it, there's been a rash of driver-jacking lately; someone tries to talk a gullible good-hearted person into giving them a ride "just up the road" and then tries to make the driver go on some drug pickup or whatever. It literally happened to my friend's elderly mom several months ago; she ended up in a town three hours away, but managed to get help before things got too bad. Kathy was so close to her destination (only 10 mi away from the high school) that I have to think she was abducted nearby, rather than abducted, say, at her start point in Milwaukee, with the jacker obligingly getting her almost all the way to Camden High in Illinois. It would be interesting to see if either the interstate or highway gas stations have reported incidents in the past year. |

It was a 30 year old white female who took my friend's mom - in fact it's a hell of a lot easier for a female criminal to get someone to give them a ride. And even easier for a female who's white. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 02:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyone who starts yelling "blacks did it" or "Somalis did it" is literally putting victims in potential danger by getting people all cranked up on possibly the wrong description. If you want to blame black people for whatever, just go start a thread where you can do that. This is about finding a killer who's on the loose. The minute that person is identified by race, race is appropriate to include in sounding the alarm. Up to the point, it accomplishes literally the opposite of helping. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 69950254 United States 02/08/2019 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Btw I don't see any black people contracting military airlines to Afghanistan, hiring hundreds of Afghan poppy workers, importing a $25,000,000/year chemist, and exporting the refined product back in body bags to the states on more military airlines where it is finally sold to kill our kids. No, last time I checked, those were white guys. |

AstroBuzz User ID: 72680137 United States 02/08/2019 03:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The article says she left her house around noon and the game was at 4:30 PM;it doesn't take 4.5 hrs. to get to that destination from her home in St. Francis... She must've had plans to maybe do some shopping before arriving at the game? I doubt she'd go hiking alone on any trails in that area so I'm guessing she probably planned on shopping somewhere... maybe Gurnee Mills shopping mall just down the road? I would definitely check out who is ever staying at that motel because if it was just one person they'd have a long way to walk to get anywhere besides that motel, the bar nextdoor, or the gas station. |
AstroBuzz User ID: 72680137 United States 02/08/2019 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyways, it's super sad. The article says she was a kind religious woman and was once chosen by Oprah to bring her class on a trip to Kenya paid for by Oprah. I can't imagine the horror she experienced that day. Who ever the monster(s) is that did this should get the death penalty. |

Actually the burning car thing probably points more to someone who knew her, imo. (I'm the OP - on a different 'puter now) Been thinking about it; who burns cars? Someone who wants to try and hide the original cause of death, possibly; someone who's thinking about DNA, possibly, and not necessarily because of a sex crime. Could be someone trying to hide an accidental killing possibly--like car vs pedestrian? At some point we have to look at other people known to her--burning a car also can smack of a more calculated crime, possibly. And if you're some desperate heroin junkie--wouldn't you take the car, get whatever money you could from a chop shop? |

Hopefully someone will have seen something and/or have a change of heart and do the right thing. |
