A rain shower never stopped planes landing. This is supposed to be a state of the art space shuttle and it cant land in rain or fog? WTF does it not have radar.

It's a rocket plane that basically drops from orbit on atight course
It falls like a rock with a speed of 20000 km /hour

1+1+7=9
8+6+2+0+0+7=14+9=25=2+5=7
7+3+8=18=1+8=9

So we have a lot of 9s and 7s
9 is the number of spiritual accomplishment
7 is the number of time
18=6+6+6

Weather at the abort landing site in Istres in France has just been announced "go." That would give NASA the one required Transatlantic Abort Landing site for launch this evening.

Coverage from Russian TV during their launches is preferable.

They show the interior of the capsule and the cosmonauts throughout the ride into orbit as well as exterior views. Makes you wonder?

The final readiness poll by the NASA test director Steve Payne confirms there are no technical issues being addressed. The Range also reports "go" on the local weather. And Mission Control says that the TAL weather in France is acceptable.

I saw it too, I thought it could be a helicopter, plane or ufo. Looked like a dark blur that went across the top of the screen at a moderate speed.

2327 GMT (7:27 p.m. EDT)

Countdown clock will resume in two minutes.

Once the countdown picks up, the Ground Launch Sequencer will be initiated. The computer program is located in a console in the Firing Room of the Complex 39 Launch Control Center. The GLS is the master of events through liftoff. During the last 9 minutes of the countdown, the computer will monitor as many as a thousand different systems and measurements to ensure that they do not fall out of any pre-determine red-line limits. At T-minus 31 seconds, the GLS will hand off to the onboard computers of Atlantis to complete their own automatic sequence of events through the final half minute of the countdown.

 Quoting: monadnock

Wow, and Cris Craft? Yep.. I was a tike back then, would sneak out of bed turn the tv on just to watch the very early morning Mercury launches and get myself grounded from watching TV for a few days because of it. But I didn't miss a single Mercury launch on "live" on TV; always got "caught" just as Mercury was entering orbit. Remembering Jules Bergman, CBS Science "guy"... Walter Cronkike doing coverage as well.
