I am just absolutely gob smacked. Quoting: khoisansun Let me set the scene. I live in a small valley in the western cape. I have not had a car for the past two months. Why, well because I have the most beautiful car imaginable, a Chrysler Voyager 1999. It carried myself and my four journeys on the most life defining outings. So she still drives really well but her oil pump has gone and I have tried everywhere in South Africa to get one. Dealers, scrap yards etc. nothing. So daily I have imaginary conversations with Chysler saying like don't make such good engines if you don't want to service them after 20 years. I don't want a new car. I just want to continue with this one til my end days. She really is the car of a lifetime. What to do? Ebay. You guys can get stuff in from other countries, can't you? This. |

Quoting: ChryTech 77017255 I've been driving used cars while we raise our family. However we will soon be empty nesters and I'd love a new Dodge Charger. Is the Charger a decent car to have? Is it too young looking for middle aged folk? I love the look of the car, inside and out. What's your opinion? Trisherella |

Looking to get a new to me Chrysler 300 awd v8. Say 2013 plus under 70k mileage (no longer have the crazy commute I used to in fact walk to work and get gas now 1x 2x a month) Anyway your thoughts on the Chrysler 300 awd v8? Will admit I just like the looks and appointments and not a super fan of BMW Audi sedans. Thanks |

anonymous coward User ID: 76076258 United States 02/11/2019 12:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Caravan was a technological tour de force. Dodge loaded them up with computers which mostly had been used in an office environment before. The CAN bus is a good system BUT all electronic communications systems need stable grounds at BOTH ends of a buss. Corrosion from day one effects these connections. The transmission IS the weakest link in the Caravn. Magnetic solenoids shift the gears hydraulically. So the engine never really is stressed that hard and seems bullet proof. Mine has 480 thousand miles and runs like new. I found the real cause of flaky computer behavior lies in the BODY CONTROL MODULE. Here an FPGA is mounted on a folded flexible printed wiring board. The connections were reflow soldered probably at too low a temperature to protect the flex material. If found maybe a hundred cold solder joints here the still showed unreflowed "solder balls". I resoldered almost all connections and now the vehicle is no longer possessed by "gremlins" |

So you can buy this thing you need...OR if you have a friend that already has these things and buys off ebay, maybe they could buy the part for you? Anyway, you can search for your part on ebay without having an account. When you find it, either get a friend to purchase it for you, or set up those accounts and do it yourself. So type in ebay.com in the browser bar and then in the search, type in oil pomp Chrysler and part number if you have it, year and pertinent info if you don't have a part number. There ya go. Good luck to you! Things are bad enough, there is no need to make anything up. ~Fluffy "Never interrupt an enemy in the process of destroying himself." Quercitin and zinc...Get it. Take it. Quoting: anonymous coward 76076258 Those oil pumps NEVER wear out, are you shure that is the problem? IF it is the engine may already be shot. Just get a exct replacement engine from the "bone yard" The oil light keeps coming on. If I put that thickening agent in the oil it would hold for a few days. When the weather is really hot it goes on immediately. Or if I overtake at a high speed. What exactly is a bone yard? Is that like a scrap yard? And by the way I know gushing is not appropriate on a car thread, but gee thanks for responding. I wish Harmony, Love, Truth and Justice for all my brothers and sisters.
