People need to research before jumping to knee jerk conclusions that Amazon's move to NYC is great. It's not.
It's a corporate welfare scam and government boondooge because local New York taxpayers (and Virginia locals; co-headquarters) will be subsidizing Amazon to the tune of $4.6 billion.

Most New Yorkers (especially Queens residents) are furious. Not only will they be forced to subsidize Amazon, but there will be huge burdens placed on their already maxed out, aging transportation infrastructure.

Amazon will also be pushing out mom and pop businesses and vibrant ethnic neighborhoods and eateries, causing rents to go even higher, and turning the place into a sterile yuppie haven.
As to creating jobs for NYC, that's total BS. First of all, the amount of workers Amazon will bring is miniscule in comparison to the huge number of workers in NYC. 25,000 workers may seem like a lot in Kansas but it's a drop in the ocean compared to NYC. Also, most of the workers will be highly paid professionals and tech people brought in from elsewhere rather than NYC.
Amazon will also displace public school workers as those buildings will be shut down.
Hate to say it but AOC has a point.
